As we mentioned last week, Split Works' Concrete and Grass Festival is set to return to Shanghai Rugby Club in September.
For the uninitiated, Concrete and Grass is an eclectic, not-too-commercial music festival that previously went by the name of Echo Park and before that as Black Rabbit. Last year's outing was headlined by Edison Chen, A$AP Ferg, The Cribs and former-Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus.
With the current climate making it harder and slower than usual to obtain performance permits for international artists, the organisers haven't been able to release the line-up for the festival just yet, but keep an eye out for our August magazine and watch timeoutshanghai.com in the next week or so for more details.
As ever, you can expect a varied bill, with a noise-rock legend, an electro swing master, an exciting Nuyorican rapper, a retro-doused NYC rock act and a smattering of great Chinese bands among the artists being assembled for the mid-September fest.
The limited clutch of early-bird tickets have already sold out, but presale tickets (two-day tickets will be 460RMB, adult day tickets will be 280RMB and student day passes will be 220RMB) will be available in early August, according to the organisers. On the door, it'll be 290RMB for students and 380RMB for adults.
