Yes, it's true – the famous American shake and burger chain is set to put down roots in Shanghai. The brand announced the news via its blog late last week, saying that the Mainland flagship will open its doors in Shanghai by 2019, bringing along its famous Angus beef burgers, crinkle cut fries, fresh-spun frozen custard shakes and more. This comes after the brand's recent announcement that the restaurant will be opening up in Hong Kong in 2018.

In Shake Shack's statement, CEO Randy Garutti shared his enthusiasm about bringing the brand to the Mainland: 'There’s incredible opportunity in China and I couldn’t think of a better place to begin this chapter of our story than Shanghai, a city that understands great brands, appreciates premium ingredients, and ultimately loves food,' he said. 'The city’s streets overflow with vibrant flavours and energy every day and we can’t wait to join Shanghai’s thriving food community.'
The brand is following in the footsteps of other major fast food slingers like White Castle, Fatburger, Taco Bell and even In & Out (the last having only done test-runs), who have each set up shop Shanghai within the last year.
