For all those bargain hunters and shopaholics out there, there's no need to wait until summer sales or Black Friday: online retail giant Amazon has just launched Prime Day in China.

None of these scenes, please.
Say what? Prime Day is an annual promotion for subscribers to Amazon Prime. It's technically not really a day. There will be special discounts until July 19, but the hottest sales period lasts until July 12 at 3pm. Prime Day is available in 13 countries – this is the first year it's also available in China: over 4 million products are available for us Shanghai ren, and they've even thrown in free shipping.
Sounds pretty great. What's the catch? The name gives it away already, but in order to shop the deals and discounts, you have to be a Prime member, which costs just under 200RMB for the year (the first month is free).

Get those credit cards ready.
This may be little more than another excuse to spend money (we see you, Single's Day), but hey, when big discounts are up for grabs, you might as well get involved.
