If you like pandas and spicy hot pot, Chengdu is pretty much your dream destination, and soon you'll be able to get there by train in just seven hours.
According to Sina Shanghai a newly proposed fast-train will cut the journey between Shanghai and Chengdu pretty much in half, speeding you to the promise land of pandas and chuan cai at a top speed for 350kmph.
The route will take you past 22 cities along the Yangtze River, including making it to Wuhan in three hours, stopping off at stations such as Nanjing, Tianmen, Yichang and Chongqing. The exact dates of the routes completion/opening are yet to be specified, but it's anticipated be at some point next year.
