Available for roughly 100RMB, the rechargeable wands are being marketed as tools for self-defence against selang (色狼), a Chinese colloquial term that compares sexually predatory men to wolves.

The devices, some of which are reported to throw out 20-inch flames and are very much capable of scarring, apparently fall into a legal grey area whereby they are available to buy, but are not entirely legal to ship or use in China.
