Get ready to enable flight mode: soon you'll potentially be allowed to use electronic devices (which are currently banned) on Chinese flights.
According to South China Morning Post, on Monday, the Civil Aviation Administration of China announced a revision to governmental aviation regulations that will allow airlines to make their own judgments regarding the use of portable electronic devices during flights.
'I believe that in the near future, you will see China’s airline companies allowing the use of portable electronic devices,' said Zhu Tao, deputy director of the administration.
Many airlines around the world already allow for devices such as phones and tablets to used by passengers, so this decision is expected to prove popular among Chinese flyers and should help Chinese airlines compete against both high-speed rail and airlines from other countries.
Obviously, whether you'll be allowed to use electronic devices is down to each respective airline, but we for one can't wait to send the WeChat message: 'On a plane lol'.
