After two years of serving up Japanese, Korean and Chinese mash-ups in Tianzifang, Stefan Stiller (Taian Table) and wife Yoshi Stiller have decided it's time for a new beginning. The team have closed East, their Modern Asian eatery, with plans to reopen in a new location in 2018.

East's funky baos
On the restaurant's WeChat account, they released a statement thanking their friends and guests for all of their support, assuring fans of their gourmet baos and izakaya-style snacks that they'd be returning soon:
'In our two years at Tianzifang, East Eatery has built a family of loyal guests, happy staff and a now beloved food concept. Now is the time to go to the next step and find a new location to take the East family to new places. Our time in Tianzifang was fun, challenging and we took our first baby steps on the path to restaurant success – the Michelin Guide's Bib Gourmand award and having David Chang from Momofuku New York endorsing our food were highlights that we are incredibly proud of. To keep building on that success, it's time to move on and while our Tianzifang nest stays dear to us, we'll be spreading our wings and launching a new location in 2018.'
Here's to hoping the team makes a speedy return in 2018.
