JZ Club remains closed this week, but they insist they'll be back in business soon - likely by the end of next week. The Found 158 venue's abrupt closure is apparently to 'upgrade fire equipment', and in the meantime they're pointing punters toward their Wooden Box venue instead.

In better news, this weekend sees the (temporary) return of local rockers FeiMa, plus Chilean pop, a 'Girls Rock' night at Inferno and more. Our gig highlights for the week are below, so check them out.

Thursday

Noche Latina

Shirley Maria Carranza joins the Shanghai Latino Project band at Shake with a choice of four special cocktails on offer for 50RMB each all night.

Shake Third Floor, 120 Jinxian Lu, near Maoming Nan Lu, Huangpu district. 9.30pm. Free.

Friday

Special Favorite Music

Japanese indie-pop septet Special Favorite Music squeeze onto the stage at YYT with support from local funketeers Howhy.

Yutintang 851 Kaixuan Lu, near Yanan Xi Lu, Changning district. 9pm. 140RMB.

Summer Ceremony

Five locally-based bands cover five J-rock idols, including Never Back Down doing One OK Rock and Half Bridgestone as X Japan.

MAO Livehouse 308 Chongqing Nan Lu, near Jianguo Zhong Lu, Huangpu district. 8.30pm. 80RMB; 60RMB (presale).

Saturday

Dënver

Chilean pop duo (and former lovers) Mariana Montenegro and Milton Mahan, aka Dënver, bring their danceable, retro-imbued funk and rock beats to The Pearl. The indie-pop pair's Sangre Cita album was named one of the top ten Latin American albums of 2015 by Rolling Stone.

The Pearl Theatre 471 Zhapu Lu, near Haining Lu, Hongkou district. Sat 5. 9pm. 80RMB; 60RMB (presale).

Knuckle Sandwich

Long-running local metal collective Playful Warrior host four female-fronted heavy bands at Inferno with Anonymous Annoyance, Hunimal, Pray for Awakening and Blood of Life on the bill.

Inferno Unit 6-103, Ground Floor, 658 Longhua Dong Lu, near Kaiping Lu, Huangpu district. 9pm. 80RMB; 60RMB (presale).

Sunday

Deal Your Drummer

Three local bands, all sharing the same drummer, perform at MAO as Insomnia Island and Blinde are joined by the returning FeiMa. The noise-rock trio put out one of our favourite Chinese records of 2013 before promptly dispanding when one member left to study abroad (he's back here on summer holiday, hence this gig).

MAO Livehouse 308 Chongqing Nan Lu, near Jianguo Zhong Lu, Huangpu district. 8pm. 80RMB; 60RMB (presale)

Sunday

Gnash

Singer, lo-fi rapper and DJ/model Gnash has, in the words of Vogue been 'accruing the type of digital currency that could easily rival a Kate Perry or Lady Gaga' in the last few months. He might not be playing venues the size of Yuyintang for long, so if you're a fan of his global hit 'I Love U, I Hate U' check him out in an intimate setting while you still can.

Yuyintang 851 Kaixuan Lu, near Yanan Xi Lu. Tue 8. 8.30pm. 180RMB.
