THOUGHTS FROM THE PASTOR
TAKE A STAND
Daniel 1:8 (NKJV)
8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
Daniel and his friends were in a foreign land and they were strong and did exploits for God. I love this man Daniel so much that our second son is named Daniel. He did amazing exploit in a foreign land. These four Hebrew young men were taken into captivity and were enrolled in the king’s program to change their identity. This was massive indoctrination program. They have been moved away from their nation. Systematically, they are being reprogrammed to wipe away every Jewishness in them by changing their language, teaching them magic, astrology, Babylonian literature and changing their names. One fact that is obvious about Daniel is that he took a stand. Daniel was a man of integrity. His position was “you can change my location, my language, my culture, and so on but you can’t change my identity”.
What was the outcome of Daniel and his friends taking a stand for God? They were distinguished. The bible said in Daniel 1:19-20 “Then the king interviewed them, and among them all none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore they served before the king. And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.” They were so excellent that no one came close second. This is indeed a feat. It is an incredible distinction. In addition, In Babylon, Daniel served 4-6 kings and 2-3 empires depending on how you count it. I pray that God shall crown you with excellence that will distinguish you in your generation as you take a stand for Him.
Blessings,

Daniel 1:20 (ESV)
20 And in every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters that were in all his kingdom.
How will you be distinct from others? How will you stand out from others? What is it that you will do to Take A Stand? Daniel and his friends took a stand for God when they arrived in Babylon. They were tested and when asked questions the king saw they were filled will great wisdom and were were distinct from the magicians and wisemen in the city. How will you be different from others? What will people see when the look at you? Will you be a Daniel or will you be like the rest?
Come this Friday and find out what it means to be distinct, what it means to stand out from the crowd, and what it means to Take a Stand. We look forward to seeing you there.
SUNDAY SERVICE REMINDER

This Sunday we will continue our journey in our series, EXPLOITS IN A FOREIGN LAND as we look at the Book of Daniel. This weeks sermon is titled IT IS A DIFFICULT THING.
There's a lot of times where we find things to be quite difficult to handle. They aren't the same as home. China for us is a strange land and the way of life here is quite different. When we find things to be difficult we need to look to God and ask him for help. Like Daniel and his friends God will help us no matter how difficult life gets.
So come ready to hear what it is the God has in store for you. May you learn how to fix your eyes on God when things become too difficult for you to handle.
