THOUGHTS FROM THE PASTOR
IN THE FIERY FURNACE
Daniel 3:17–18 (NIV)
17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
The three Hebrew men decided that they were not going to worship the golden image of king Nebuchadnezzar. Which image is the world pushing you to worship? Are you ready to stand for Jesus? It was a decision that could cost them their lives. I love the way they responded to the king. Firstly, they recognized that God can save them by saying “the God we serve is able to deliver us from it”. He is a God who is all-powerful and He can save his children from the danger.
They didn’t stop there at the greatness of God. They proceeded to declare that He will save them by saying “and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand”. Most times, we believe that God is able but not willing to step into our situation to help us. We must believe that God is both able and willing. However, they acknowledge that sometimes, God chooses to do otherwise and trust God in his sovereignty regardless of the outcome. We must learn to believe that God is both able and willing to intervene but must acknowledge that He knows the best for us.
The outcome was that Jesus stepped in and join them in the fiery furnace. The fire lost its power and became air conditioner. Halleluya! May God turn your fires into air conditioners. The king exclaimed “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.” The presence of Jesus makes the difference. When they came out, it was discovered that the “fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them”. This is incredible. I pray that God will protect you from every fiery furnace ahead of you that you will emerge without any dent of harm or even its smell. The king was drawn to God because of this miracle. May God give you an unbelievable testimony that will bring people to Jesus.

SUNDAY SERVICE REMINDER
This Sunday we will continue our journey in our series, EXPLOITS IN A FOREIGN LAND as we look at the Book of Daniel. This weeks sermon is titled IN THE FIERY FURNACE.
There are time where we are put into situations like that of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego where we are told to either choose X or choose God. If dont choose X we will the be persecuted. Sometimes even flogged for not choosing X. When we stand firm and choose God the punishments from not choosing X happen but if we remain strong and people see our Faith and our Heart as Nebachanezzar did Good things will become of it.
So come this Sunday and see what it is God wants you to do when you are faced with your own Fiery Furnace.
