YOU CAN'T LOVE WITHOUT GIVING AND YOU CAN'T OUTGIVE GOD.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16 NIV)
Happy Chinese New year! This is a very special time in the middle kingdom called China. Everyone is returning to their home town to celebrate the Chinese New year with family members. One special part of this season is the giving of red envelopes with money in them to children and sometimes to adults. This is popularly known as "hongbao" (红包). This act of giving hongbao has gone digital as well following wechat, alipay and other popular platforms. Sometimes, people will send hongbao through wechat without any form of love and some instances without knowing you. It is clear that you can give without loving but you cannot love without giving. One clear evidence of genuine love is that giving will follow love. Whether you are giving money, resources or time, love always demand giving.
God is the best giver. You cannot outgive God. The bible says that He gave his one and only begotten son to save us from the power of death. He gave Himself to save us. Through the gift of Jesus, we have received eternal life. This is the best gift that anyone can receive. As christ ambassadors, this is the best gift that we can give at this season and I pray that God will give you opportunities to give the gift of the good news of Jesus Christ. May God make you sensitive in the spirit to see what He is doing and join Him in being the salt and light at this festive season.
