PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL GROWTH
Ephesians 4:11–16 (NIV)
11So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
1 Peter 2:1–5 (NIV)
1Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. 4As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him—5you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
James 1:22–25 (NIV)
22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
· Spend significant time in worship and listen to hear from God. Write down any prayer requests that the Holy Spirit gives you and pray them in addition to the following prayer requests below.
· Pray that God will anoint mightily the five-fold ministers (the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers), He has blessed us with so that they will equip you for the work of ministry and to grow us unto maturity in Christ.
· Pray that you will become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
· Pray that you will no longer be an infant, tossed back and forth by every wave of doctrine instead grow unto maturity and be grounded in Christ.
· Pray that God rids you of any besetting sin that keeps you from growing unto maturity.
· Pray that God will make you hungry of the word of God and that you devour the word so much to grow unto maturity.
· Pray that as a living stone, God will build you up into maturity as a priest of God.
· Pray that as you consume the word that you will be a doer of the word and not a mere hearer.
