In Genesis God created a family (Adam, Eve) to populate the Earth. In Exodus he chose a family (Moses,Aaron,Miriam) to lead Israel out of Egypt. In Leviticus God chose a family (Levites) to stand before God on behalf of the people. In Numbers...well I think you get my point.
Family is important to God. It’s so important that when he chooses to describe relationships in the New Testament church he uses words like, father, children, brother, and sister.
But do we know what it means to be family? Do we really live out the call of God to “Be Family” in the community where he has placed us?
The early church caught the vision Jesus painted for them. They met in homes, shared meals together, had all things in common, gathered daily, wept with one another, laughed with one another, and challenged one another. In other words they were...family.
