PRAYER FOR ORPHANS, WIDOWS, AND LESS PRIVILEGED
Matthew 25:34–40 (NIV)
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Deuteronomy 15:11 (NIV)
11There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land.
Proverbs 19:17 (NIV)
17Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.
· Spend significant time in worship and listen to hear from God. Write down any prayer requests that the Holy Spirit gives you and pray them in addition to the following prayer requests below.
· Pray that God will use you to bless the orphans, widows, street kids, and the less privileged of our societies.
· Pray that God will always help us to remember that as we are serving the needy, we are actually serving Him.
· Pray that God will protect the vulnerable populations in our cities from being exploited by wicked people.
· Pray that God will give you the grace to be openhanded to provide for the poor people in your villages and towns.
· Pray that the Church will always care for the less privileged amongst us and show them the love of Christ.
· Pray that as we provide the physical needs of the less privileged that we also provide the spiritual needs whenever possible.
