The JORC Code is a Code for PublicReporting not a Code that regulates the manner in which a Competent Personestimates Mineral Resources or Ore Reserves. The term ‘JORC compliant’therefore refers to the manner of reporting not to the estimates. Use of thewords ‘JORC compliant’ to describe resources or estimates is potentiallymisleading. The words ‘JORC compliant’ should be interpreted to mean: ‘Reportedin accordance with the JORC Code and estimated (or based on documentationprepared) by a Competent Person as defined by the JORC Code’.

A Public Report concerning a company’sExploration Targets, Exploration Results, Mineral Resources or Ore Reserves isthe responsibility of the company acting through its Board of Directors. Anysuch report must be based on, and fairly reflect, the information andsupporting documentation prepared by a Competent Person. A company issuing aPublic Report shall disclose the name(s) of the Competent Person, state whetherthe Competent Person is a full-time employee of the company, and, if not, namethe Competent Person’s employer.

In order to assist Competent Persons andcompanies to comply with these requirements a Competent Person’s Consent Formhas been devised that incorporates the requirements of the Code. The Competent Person’sConsent Form is provided in Appendix 2.

These organisations have enforceable disciplinaryprocesses including the powers to suspend or expel a member.

If the Competent Person is estimating, or supervising theestimation of Mineral Resources, the relevant experience must be in theestimation, assessment and evaluation of Mineral Resources. If the CompetentPerson is estimating, or supervising the estimation of Ore Reserves, therelevant experience must be in the estimation, assessment, evaluation and economicextraction of Ore Reserves.
