From February 22nd to February 26th,2016, General Manager of Beijing Suntrans Language Translation Co.,Ltd, Dr. LuGuo accompanied leaders from a large-sized Chinese group to Pakistan for the third time to participate in the negotiationsand reports on a major bilateral mining project between China and Pakistan. Dr. Lu Guo provided language services forboth sides.

Dr. Lu Guo at the meetingDuring the trip, representatives fromthe Chinese group made project reports to Muhammad•Shahbaz•Sharif, Governor ofthe Punjab Province and conducted further negotiations on the mining projectwith the Pakistan side. The Chinese team involved in the negotiation was composed of senior experts from different countries including China, Germany, Canada andIreland.After three days of intensive formalmeetings, the negotiation and report ended in a satisfactory way, with expected results achieved.

As early as April and August of 2015,General Manager of Suntrans, Dr. Lu Guo has went with leaders of the Chinese group to participate in the negotiations and translation services of the Pakistan project twice. He also helped in thetraining of the Canada NI-43-101 Report for relevantdomestic and foreign staff of the project.
During this period, Dr. Lu Guo conductedfurther investigations on Suntrans' business development in Pakistan andinterviewed a number of related personnel, laying foundations for team buildingand business development for Suntrans Pakistan branch.
During breaks of the meetings, Dr. LuGuo learned about local customs and the development status of politics and economics there. In Pakistan, we could see menwear white robes while women wear colorful robes everywhere. At formaloccasions,men will wear traditional suits and theylike to wear hats. Most women in Pakistan do not work. They just cook meals,help their husbands and raise children at home as full-time housewives. In thewhole society, only the jobs as hospital nurses and airline stewardesses, andpositions in foreign companies are open to females, while other occupationsgenerally hire man.

Pakistan was a former British colony andgained its independence later. Pakistan's social system is similar toBritain's. Under Pakistan's constitutional law, Urdu isthe national language while English is the official language. Generally peoplefrom upper classes speak English while the commonmasses speak Urdu.

In terms of security, the overall publicsecurity in Pakistan's big cities runs well. Out of them, Islamabad and Lahorehave better security conditions than average while the public securitysituation in Karachi is complicated to some degree. In the northern areas near Afghanistan, at least oneriot happened every year killing more than 100 people on average, according torecords made during the past five to six years. Though illegal possession ofguns is strictly forbidden in Pakistan, the situation of illegal private possession of guns isstill serious.

In the aspect of economics, thePakistanis are still in poverty and backward circumstances. As far as Dr. LuGuo learned,monthly salaries of local residentsrange from RMB 1,000 to RMB 3,500. An ordinary policeman earns about RMB 1,100 permonth. There exists severepolarization between the rich and the poor in Pakistan. The obsession ofhierarchy also exists.For example, servants are not allowed towatch TV with their masters and drivers are not permitted to have dinner withtheir hosts.
Pakistan lacks power supply. In richcommunities, it is common that power cuts happen more than a dozen times everyhour on average. Not to mention people livein poor communities, the power cut they suffer can last for a whole week ormore than half a month. Currently large-sizedChinese enterprises such as China Huaneng Group have already entered thecoal-fired power sector of Pakistan. But the investment potential is still hugein thermal and wind power sectors. Along with the launch of the "One Beltand One Road" policy, more and more Chinese are flocking in Pakistan tograb chances. At present, Chinese
people in Pakistan are mainly engaged intrading, operating supermarkets and restaurants.

All kinds of vehicles in Pakistan suchas buses and trucks are painted with colorful and beautiful pictures. If wemeet Pakistani students on the streets, they will bevery excited yelling "He is a Chinese! A Chinese!".There arecharacters written on Pakistan's textbooks reading "The Chinese are ourbest friends".
Pakistan is relatively rich of mineralresources, with large quantity of proved reserves of natural gas, oil, coal,iron, bauxite,marble, chromium, copper, granite, gems,and etc. However, only a few major ore deposits are detected due to low degrees in geological research and exploration.But judging from the oreforming geological environment, the prospectingpotential of Pakistan is huge.
