In August 2025, Real Image Media was invited by Bangladeshi organizers to participate in the Asian Forum for Documentary Filmmakers hosted by Dhaka DocLab. As one of the most important platforms for documentary pitching and exchange in South Asia, the forum aims to build a communication bridge between documentary directors, producers from across Asia and international partners through workshops, proposal presentations and one-on-one meetings.
This year's forum included presentations of in-development projects, sharing of sample edit proposals, and multi-day project meetings, attracting outstanding documentary creators from South Asia, Southeast Asia and beyond. The shortlisted proposals from countries such as Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and the Philippines cover social issues, cultural heritage, family memories and identity in the context of globalization, demonstrating the vitality and diversity of documentary creation in Asia.
As the only representative from mainland China invited to the forum, Real Image Media was arranged with a special session by the jury to dialogue with many creators of the shortlisted projects, exploring the possibilities of future international cooperation and co-production. Topics such as exploring social truths through family memories and recording conflicts between immigration and cultural heritage echo the global social issues that Real Image Media has long focused on.
Lu Jialin, partner of Real Image Media, said at the forum: "As an international producer of Real Image Media, I was deeply moved by the shortlisted projects I just heard. These works, whether about family, culture, identity or resilience, show the unique power of documentaries as a medium."
Lu Jialin also said: "For Real Image Media, cooperation is not just co-production, but also building bridges - connecting different countries, communities and perspectives. We look forward to carrying out more in-depth cooperation with some of these projects in the future and jointly bringing these real Asian stories to the international stage."
As an organization committed to promoting cross-cultural image exchanges, Real Image Media highly values the continuous interaction with creators from Bangladesh and South Asia. We believe that documentaries are not only a visual art, but also a public language that transcends geographical boundaries. In new international cooperation, Real Image Media will continue to support creative forces with unique perspectives and social values, contributing more possibilities to the development of Asian documentaries.
