In order to learn the influence on private car usage in China after the epidemic occurs, Psyma China had conducted a small survey. The study has collected 215 samples from people of different demographic backgrounds. Among which, nearly 2/3 of the respondents own a private car. 


"Which statement fits you best in terms of attitude towards private car?"

More than half of the respondents regard private car as the supplement of public transportation. Many feel that a private car could provide them the sense of security, esp. after experiencing this epidemic.



"Which transport means do you use for daily mobility and commuting in normal time and after resuming to work?

After resuming to work, people obviously reduce the usage of public transportation, esp. crowed metros and buses. People tend to drive private cars more than before.


Non-car-owners show more desire for being able to drive a private car for mobility after resuming to work, which may become one of the triggers for them to purchase a private car in the future.


For car owners, driving their own cars become their top choice of mobility after resuming to work. 



"Does the epidemic have influence on your previous car purchase plan?"

"How do you accept the online vehicle sales platform?"

Influenced by the epidemic, 16% of the car owners would postpone or even cancel their car purchase/replacement plan due to the financial concern. 21% of the non-car-owners would like to purchase one as soon as possible. 


Non-car owners show lower acceptance towards the online car purchasing than car owners, so they depend on the 4S stores more and adjust their car purchase plan. About 10% of them may postpone the plan.

According to the above chart, the higher the purchase budget, the more acceptance towards the online car purchasing.



"Does the epidemic affect your car purchase budget?"

Despite the epidemic, most people keep the same car purchas budget. For non-car-owners, they would increase budget to buy a higher level vehicle, but 10% of them would reduce the budget for financial consideration. 



"If the price is reasonable, how attractive to you are the following features?"

Affected by the epidemic, people focus more on the hygiene related features. They show great interest in the central ventilation system (which could filter out the virus) and in-car antibacterials. 

Besides, smart connect is attractive to them, which may help to boost the technological development. 


Meanwhile, 1/3 of people are interested in "online office" in car.



"Do you have travel plan after epidemic ends?"

Although there is limit of travel due to the traffic control during the epidemic period, 1/3 of people have no travel plan even after the epidemic ends.
