tea ceremony
Chinese tea culture refers to the methods of preparation of tea, the equipment used to make tea and the occasions in which tea is consumed in China. The terms chayi ("Art of Tea") and "Tea Ceremony" have been used, but the term "Tea Culture" includes more than just the ceremony. Also "culture" is easier to translate into English than the Chinese term "art".
As one of the seven daily necessities (the others being firewood, rice, oil, salt, soy sauce, and vinegar), drinking tea is very common in China. As a result, the Chinese tea culture, both extensive and profound, dates back to ancient times. It not only includes the material culture but also includes the spiritual culture.
Tea culture in China differs from that of Europe, Britain or Japan in such things as preparation methods, tasting methods and the occasions for which it is consumed. Even now, in both casual and formal Chinese occasions, tea is consumed regularly. In addition to being a drink, Chinese tea is used in traditional Chinese medicine and in Chinese cuisine.
our tea ceremony
Last Saturday, our interns went to beijing international studies University to participate in a tea ceremony with BISU students.
our interns enjoyed a amazing performance of tea ceremony, also get a chance to know
more about Chinese culture!
our interns met some new friends and
find out more about culture differences and share ideas with people of the same age.
The history of tea in China is long and complex. The Chinese have enjoyed tea for millennia. Scholars ailed the brew as a cure for a variety of ailments; the nobility considered the consumption of good tea as a mark of their status, and the common people simply enjoyed its flavour.
Hope our interns enjoyed this tea ceremony and learned more about Chinese tea culture!
