We can’t believe it’s already March, what better way to shake off the winter cold with some good Music, food and fun? As usual Modernista has it all, and more!
Get your creative sparkle going at the DISCO INFERNO Drink & Draw with timeless music and stunning models. On Wednesday, we dance on the floor on with our Swing dance trail and ball. On Thursday, Satellite Duo keep the jazz going with a twist, its going to be one of those Jazz nights you dont want to miss!
Friday we will funk into the weekend with Red Hot Chili Pepper cover band the Jalapeño Funkers! DJ Vincent von Rock will rock on afterwards accompanied with our usual midnight Happy Hour shots. Saturday night Ember Swift and her fellow musical talents will perform a selection of songs from their most recent album and some of their classic signature songs, this is going to be fun for everyone! Remember to stay for the after party with DJ Whisper! We finish off this eventful week on Sunday with the multi-talented Dancer and singer Awuzi. Her dynamic dance and retro songs will leave you refreshed and inspired, and ready for the next week ahead.

Make sure you swing by this Wednesday night, because our swing dance evenings are back on the program! No idea what swing dance is yet? No worries - the first step is to simply show up for the Balboa trial class starting at 20:00. Balboa is one of the various styles danced under the umbrella term ‘Swing dance’. Make sure you stay afterwards for a cosy & casual social dance evening where beginners and more advanced dancers are all welcome to practice their moves. Swing away the remnants of the winter cold - ah one and ah two and you will know what to do!

Despite having performed multiple times on our stage already, their music always manages to bring about a unique and authentic vibe that pleasantly surprises - you’ll know what we talk about right after their first tunes. Hey oh - Give it away for the Jalapeño Funkers this Friday night! Infinite fun and singing along await with their tribute to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. With Ed on vocals, Syl on the guitar, Karel on bass and Li Chu on drums we cant think of a better way to rock into the weekend. Can’t Stop after midnight of course, as then the Happy Hour shots flow and DJ Vincent Von Rock will keep the fun going as usual.

Saturday night promises to be extra special as Ember Swift (子玉) and her fellow top musicians will perform a preview of their most recent album - "Mid-March Meltdown" - combined with some of their classic signature songs on our stage. Identified by mixing up different styles, you don’t want to miss out on this band - ask any rock or jazz lover! As usual, never a dull moment long after the show: at midnight Happy Hour shots will be poured and DJ Whisper takes it away right into Sunday.

We jazz up our normal Sunday program a bit this Sunday with the multi-talented Awuzi! The performances of singer and swing dancer Awuzi truly reveal the essence of Swing. Along with Qiao Youheng on guitar, Naqin on bass, Dai Haori on drums and Zhang Yiwei on sax. We are delighted to have them perform here at Modernista, just as they can’t wait to share their jazz story with you.
这个星期天，我们与多才多艺的阿乌兹一起为我们爵士系列增添活力！歌手和摇摆舞者阿巫兹的表演，真实地揭示了摇摆的精髓。与吉他手乔宥衡、贝斯手纳钦、鼓手戴浩日和萨克斯手张艺威一起。我们很期待他们在老摩的演出，就如同他们迫不及待地，想与您分享他们的爵士故事一样。

Everyone knows about it, right? We don't do happy hours at Modernista... well, except that 10 RMB Midnight Shots Happy Hour. We call it on that hour since our DJ always needs some extra love shot at him after the live music ends and the dance party starts. Try some classics such are Coco Locos, Naughty Girls and Dirty Russians. Take your pick between the intoxicating Purple Haze or the cool sweetness of the Chocolate Mint. Dare to try the tequila in Strawberry Cupid's Bow, or the spicy fire burning in Kill Bill shot. Or maybe just want to have a strong, velvety, and decadent After Hours? One way or another, they will get the party started, Modernista style!"
