Here at Modernista Jazz has a special place in our hearts. That's why we have our Sunday Jazz Series. Every Sunday (and a few weekdays) we dedicate the evening to this enigmatic and celebrated musical genre with live bands. It's not just any Jazz though, each evening is its own style within the genre, from the classic to the experimental and everything in between. Be you new or a connoisseur, can come and delight in all things Jazz.

Vintage swing lovers rejoice! Hot Club of Siam will be flying in straight from Bangkok like a Charlie Christian guitar solo to Modernista! They'll be combining forces with two Beijing musicians to make an All-Star jazz combo! Inspired by the godfather of the sound, Django Reinhardt, they'll be bringing you the best of gypsy jazz.

For this Sunday jazz night, Wang Zhongxing Quartet will launch it into orbit with fast, complex jazz melodies inspired by be-bop. They'll stop off at styles like blues to swing, merging them together to deliver a truly unique sound. SEESAW SEXTET

Lights! Camera! Action! Feel the cinematic vibes for the perfect soundtrack to your night. Seesaw Sextet will be bringing their unique orginal compositions, mixing it with traditional Chinese melodies. In the starring role is the erhu of Huang Yaqiong. The supporting cast is made up of virtuosos, carrying along plenty of grace and style along with an excellent plot for a night of music.

The Fusionese comes to Modernista on Wednesday. Don't let the unassuming name fool you: this will be a unique cultural experience. For this special performance, Luxembourg jazz piano player Marc Mangen gathers some of the finest musicians to perform his compositions together. They will render the music in a funky and fusion style, remembering the old days of Jazz-Rock. Sign me up!
