WHAT IS IT? Balboa is a social partnered dance that originated in Southern California during the 1920s and 1930s and gained in popularity in the 1930s and 1940s. It is danced primarily in close embrace to upbeat swing music. This dance is fully improvisational and can be quite energetic yet elegant. Today many people around the world enjoy this type of swing dance.
巴尔波亚是一种上世纪20-30年代起源于南加州的舞蹈，当然现在的巴尔波亚更加融合很多当代的元素。早期的巴尔波亚实际上是Swing Dance摇摆舞的一种，出现在1915年，并在30到40年代得到了最好的发展。这种舞蹈看起来就像是两个人在拥抱，用全身的链接去引带和跟随。而专属于她的独特魅力则在于音带和跟随之间十分微妙的交流了。如今巴尔波亚舞蹈已得到了全世界的喜爱。
This FREE class is designed for people without any dance experience (if you have some, it also helps) and aimed to introduce you to the dance. After the class you can decide if you'd like to sign up for the Beginner course to learn Balboa. Teachers are bilingual (Eng & CN), so you will not be lost in translation!
这次的免费体验课特别为没有任何舞蹈经验的人所设计（当然如果你学过其他舞蹈，这会对巴尔波亚 舞蹈的吸收会有很大帮助），介绍什么是巴尔波亚舞蹈是我们这次体验课的主要目的。课后你可以决定是否来参加我们巴尔波亚初级班的学习。我们的巴尔波亚老师 会用中英双语授课，所以不用担心授课时会有语言障碍。
OK, WHAT DO I NEED TO DO? Sign up by following the link at the bottom of this page (with or without partner), wear comfortable shoes and come to Modernista (44 Baochao Hutong) on Wed! After the class, have a drink, watch the Intermediate Bal class (what awaits in the future!) and stay for our Balboa party with live music and graduation performance by the Intermediate group!
