【WED 09.16】Balboa Class + Live Music: Nanci & The Delicatessen

Balboa is a social partnered dance that originated in Southern California during the 1920s and 1930s and gained in popularity in the 1930s and 1940s. It is danced primarily in close embrace to upbeat swing music. This dance is fully improvisational and can be quite energetic yet elegant. Today many people around the world enjoy this type of swing dance.

什么是巴尔波亚?巴尔波亚是一种上世纪20-30年代起源于南加州的舞蹈，当然现在的巴尔波亚更加融合很多当代的元素。早期的巴尔波亚实际上 是Swing Dance摇摆舞的一种，出现在1915年，并在30到40年代得到了最好的发展。这种舞蹈看起来就像是两个人在拥抱，用全身的链接去引带和跟随。而专属于她的独特魅力则在于音带和跟随之间十分微妙的交流了。如今巴尔波亚舞蹈已得到了全世界的喜爱。

This course is designed for people without any dance experience (if you have some, it also helps) and aimed to introduce you to the dance.

这次课程特别为没有任何舞蹈经验的人所设计（当然如果你学过其他舞蹈，这会对巴尔波亚 舞蹈的吸收会有很大帮助），介绍什么是巴尔波亚舞蹈是我们这次体验课的主要目的。

周三巴尔波亚班将于9月16日起的每个周三晚间20:30-21:30举行。老师是来自美国的Jered和来自俄罗斯的Leru，他们是摇摆北京最具经验的balboa老师，有着多年的舞蹈和教学经验，他们希望能舞蹈的激情与更多的学生们一同分享。课程上老师们会用中英双语授课，所以不用担心会有语言障碍哦。

The Wednesday class starts on September 16th, 20:30-21:30. Jered (USA) and Leru (Russia) are two of the most experienced Swing Beijing instructors for Balboa. They have been dancing and teaching this style for several years, and eager to share their passion with their students. Teachers are bilingual (Eng & CN), so you will not be lost in translation!

Better to find a partner, come to the trial class and sign up, wear comfortable shoes and come to Modernista on Wed before 20:30! You can also pay cash on arrival. After the class, have a drink and stay for our Balboa party to practice and have fun!

The only golden swing era band in Beijing, Nanci and her guys are taking over the residency of Modernista´s well established Wednesday Swing night. An international combo of four passionate musicians, they are sure to keep you sipping Manhattans while your feet tip tap the old chess floor all night.
