Henk Kraaijeveld is a versatile jazz vocalist and songwriter from The Netherlands who brings together compelling music with strong lyrics,
storytelling and surprising improvisations. Crossovers are made between old and new styles of jazz, including elements from classical and popular music. Kraaijeveld’s debut album Passengers, which he is presenting now in Modernista to the chinese audience, contains mostly original songs as well as pop covers.

HENK KRAAIJEVELD
Five years after winning the Dutch Vocal jazz competition, Henk Kraaijeveld releases his debut album called Passengers in the Amsterdam Bimhuis. It is the outcome of his collaboration with pianist and songwriter Daan Herweg.

Early 2013, Kraaijeveld won both jury and audience award at the 10th edition of the DutchVocal jazz competition (Nederlands Jazz Vocalisten Concours) The jury praised his ‘relaxed performance in which he connects very well with the audience, blends his warm and beautiful voice perfectly with the sound of the band, while showing an impressive vocal range’.
Kraaijeveld graduated cum laude from Utrecht Conservatory in 2012 and studied at Manhattan School of Music, New York with renowned songwriter, composer and arranger Peter Eldridge.
Past year he has been working on his debut album called Passengers, which is the outcome of his collaboration with pianist and songwriter Daan Herweg, the album contains original songs by Kraaijeveld/Herweg and covers
Besides his solo career, Henk is co-founder of Dutch a cappella group The Junction, with which he toured several Asian and European countries. Henk also holds a teaching position at ArtEZ conservatory in Arnhemand as a guest teacher at Utrecht Conservatory.

'I had the pleasure of working with Henkback when we were both at the Manhattan School of Music (as teacher andstudent), and since that time I always wondered where his artistic nature wouldtake him. I’m happy to report it’s taken him to some compelling and inventiveplaces on his first solo project, an exciting collection of Henk’s modernoriginals, and covers including a particularly stirring arrangement of theBeatles’ ‘For No One’. A beautiful beginning.’
