About WINKY D

Winky D (shortened from Wicked Deejay) has become an icon of Zimbabwean urban/reggae music with the title "King of ZimDancehall" being conferred on him after years of sustained indisputable show of class, ability, quality and prominence in the music industry. His current album "Gafa Life" is destined to break new records as the single "Disappear" became a Christmas Carol for every Zimbabwean, won best song of the year twice (National Arts Merit Awards & Zimbabwe Music Awards) and it went on to top charts on BBC 1Xtra.

Winky D is an artist with lyrics that will continue inspiring you long after the track has stopped playing. His emotionally charged lyrics are the opposite of his soft spoken and sociable personality. His ghetto schooling was a prophetic reflection of the powerful lyrics which have become his life. He is armed with a hunger for educating the people about the group of people very much taken for granted and life taken for a joke.
