As flamenco is becoming a monthly classic of our Sunday jazz series, this month we are welcoming Azulejos, a visiting Flamenco - Jazz ensemble arrived right from the south of Spain.

Composed by flamenco guitarist Eric Wang and cantaor Jesus Perales Ramirez, the duo incorporates smooth jazz elements to traditional Spanish flamenco singing, while fantastic flamenco dancer Mari-Zhen, well known as "La Perlita de Hunan", incorporates  the more folkloric element to the mixture.

这次周日爵士之夜将迎来西班牙南部的声音，远方的蓝乐队将登陆摩登尼斯塔舞台，带来这个弗拉明戈爵士之夜，绝对难得的音乐，绝对值得的期待！

MORE ABOUT THE BAND

Eric Wan

Guitarist

Having been studying flamenco in Granada Spain for two years, Eric learned playing flamenco guitar with masters Jorge el Pisao, Marco Palometas, Ruben Campos and Kiki Corpas. He also learned chord melody with Jazz guitarist Jody Fisher from United States, and harmony with Peter Mazza. Meanwhile, he organised a musical group in Spain with Jesús,the singer, a Spanish saxophonist and a French percussionist, mainly playing bossa nova and flamenco fusion music. This summer, he will bring the Spanish singer Jesús Peral Ramírez back to China, and cooperate with flamenco dancer and singer Mari-Zhen, combining traditional flamenco music with contemporary Spanish music. It should be expected!

万颖慧

吉他手

在西班牙格拉纳达学习弗拉门戈, 先后师从于 Jorge el Pisao, Marco Palometas, Ruben Campos, 以及 Kiki Corpas.  同时与美国爵士吉他大师 Jody Fisher 学习chord melody, 与Peter Mazza 学习爵士和声。期间他和西班牙朋友组建乐队，主要演奏bossa nova以及flamenco fusi on曲式。

Jesús Peral Ramírez

Spanish Singer

Born and raised in Cádiz, Jesús was deeply influenced by flamenco and carnaval music and has developed a voice which is very distinguishable and attractive. From 2003 to 2010, he participated 12 times carnaval music competition in Gran Teatro Falla organised by government, and won three times with his group. He started composing music from year 2012. His lyrics are romantic and also critic. In 2005, he organised a musical group with Eric, the guitarist, a Spanish saxophonist and a French percussionist. The group played bossa nova, and flamenco fusion music. This July, he will fly to China and present Spanish contemporary music and traditional flamenco music to Chinese audience.

来自西班牙海港城市加迪斯(Cádiz)，从小受弗拉门戈以及carnaval音乐影响，拥有极具个人特色的嗓音。Jesús自2003年至2010年期间参加12次西班牙政府举办的carnaval比赛，在Gran Teatro Falla演出，并与他的团队三次获得第一。自2012年起开始作词，其歌词风格浪漫并诙谐。2015年与万颖慧及西班牙萨克斯手和法国鼓手组建乐队，演奏风格为bossa nova, flamenco fusion。此次想必会为中国听众带来不一样的西班牙现代音乐的听觉体验。

Mari-Zhen

La Perlita de Hunan

Flamenco Dancer, Singer

Zhen started learning flamenco from year 2006. Masters who have taught her include Matilde Coral, Merché Esmeralda, La Farruca, Andres Marín, and Rosario Toledo. With scholarship, she continued studying in flamenco school in Sevilla—La Fundación de Cristina Heeren. In this school, she has taken clases with masters Calixto Sanchez, José de la Tomasa, Paco Taranto and Arcángel.

From 2007, she started teaching flamenco dance in a flamenco school in León, France. Between 2008 and 2010, she performed flamenco dance and singing with her group around France and Spain. She is also the first Chinese flamenco artist who has been reported by Spain TV channels.

This Year, she participated flamenco seminar in Macao University, and performed in Singapore Flamenco Festival in May. This July, she will cooperate with Eric Wan and Spanish singer Jesús Peral Ramírez, merging Flamenco into Spanish contemporary music. It must be an interesting and creative combination.

赵珍

弗拉门戈舞者，歌手，艺名La Perlita de Hunan（来自湖南的小珍珠）

2006年起到西班牙学习弗拉门戈，师从Matilde Coral，Merche Esmeralda，La Farruca，Andres Marín，Rosario Toledo等舞蹈名家。获两度全额奖学金在塞维利亚的克里斯蒂娜·黑伦基金会（La Fundación de Cristina Heeren）弗拉门戈艺术学校进修弗拉门戈歌唱，得到了当代大师Calixto Sanchez、José de la Tomasa、Paco Taranto、Arcángel传授。

2007年起受聘于法国里昂弗拉门戈学校开始舞蹈教学。2008年到2010年组团在法国，西班牙进行弗拉门戈舞蹈和歌唱表演。作为第一位华人弗拉门戈歌手接受西班牙各大电视的采访。

2016年曾赴澳门大学展开弗拉门戈主题讲座，5月赴新加坡弗拉门戈艺术节表演。此次与吉他手万颖慧和西班牙歌手Jesús的组合，是否会碰撞出弗拉门戈与西班牙现代音乐融合的火花呢?
