THE BAND
TimeOut is a unique jazz band performing Jazz music with a strong Caribbean flavor. This eclectic style of music is a very characteristic aproach to jazz, moving from Swing to Calypso, and other musical forms like Socca or even Kaseko.
A distinctive thing about TimeOut is the use of steel pan as their main melody instrument. Their Grenadian-born steel pan player, Alex, has an intuitive vision in music. Growing up in a family with a deep musical background, he started to play and love the steel pan from a very young age. As a result, Alex became an acomplished steel pan musician that can make you swing from a sweet groovy Kaseko-Jazz to a hot Chotney.
This very special instrument was created in Trinidad and Tobago during the time of industrialisation at the beginning of the 20th century, developing very fast and soon becoming an iconic drum in the Caribbean region.
Alex is absolutely sure that steel pan, with its very special sound, can express a lot of emotions and a kaleidoscope of different undertones of feelings. Come to witness it with your own ears!
