ABOUT THE ARTIST
The Roy McGrath Quartet is a Jazz ensemble comprising Roy McGrath on saxophone, Ben Dillinger on Bass, Joshua Jessen on Piano, and Andrew Green on Drums. All members reside in Chicago, Illinois, and bring the vibrant urban sound of city life into their interpretation of standard Jazz classics. We pride ourselves in grabbing hold of the traditions embedded in the vast gambit of jazz standards whilst bringing to the forefront new and modern interpretations of them.Fronted by saxophone, the unique blend of these tambers bring a different edge to the music, enabling the band to pursue unique directions in their improvisation. At times, our music is high energy and exciting, with moments of romantic patience and sultriness. Besides some of the best performers in the Chicago and Midwest area, all members of the band are active educators throughout the city at various institutions.
