Well, this heat is really killing us... everyone, right?

We need more than ever all that nightly entertaiment to forget about the merciless Beijing sun. So we keep open and ready to share our cool events with everyone who's left in the city during August. You can come in your swiming suit, no problem. Really!

We start the month's weekends ON FRI 3RD with one of our new favorites, PEKING FLOYD, probably doing the best Pink Floyd covers you will hear in China. ON SAT 4TH we welcome newcomers CUBAND, an all Cuban band bringing a bit of Caribbean taste to Beijing.

We keep going into August with Beijing most veteran Blues band MOJOHAND ON FRI 10TH, while we try how Brazilian style TEMPLO DO SAMBA emsemble sounds on a weekend night ON SAT 11TH.

Mid month, we go modern again with disco band THE FLIP SIDE playing for the first time at Modernista ON FRI 17TH, while veterans THE REBEL 5 will hit the stage with all that funky power ON SAT 18TH.

To the end of the month, EMBER SWIFT's original Western and Asian fusion folk will be back ON FRI 24TH, while our old time favorites THE UIGHUR SAMA BAND will be ON SAT 25TH. To close the month ON FRI 31ST, the fantastic death bop jazz turned bad experiment which is THE SPICE CABINET will be giving us a taste of their Jackson Spice show that you will find probably hard to forget.

As for the dancing part, this month is opening with a NEW BALBOA SWING COURSE ON WED 8TH. We can't think of anything else to do on a lazy summer weekday night than learning some swinging steps once and for all. You'll probably have been thinking about it for a while anyhow, right?

But if you have more of a latin heart, MONDAY LATIN NIGHT is a good chance to get to know the latin community in the city and also learn some Cuban salsa steps with our fantastic teacher. Our house band SAVOR LATINO will take you on the wild side for a little while right afterwards, so you can also practice a bit.

But if dancing is not your thing, maybe some DRINK AND DRAW will suit best your taste EVERY TUESDAY. Everyone is welcome to participate despite of levels and so. Just try!

Finally, if you just want to do nothing but to relax with a bit of jazz and a nice drink, don't forget that we have a weekly SUNDAY JAZZ featuring some of the city's best jazz bands.

This month, we welcome saxophonist XU PENG ON SUN 5TH, talented friend SHI YUJI ON SUN 12TH, American trombonetist TERENCE HSIEH ON SUN 19TH and visiting Italian bass master NICOLA LANCEROTTI ON SUN 26TH. It's definitely going to be a cool Sunday month!
