What is Rumble in the Jumble

Every month we hold a “jumble sale,” but with Beijing characteristics.
Rumble in the Jumble 是一个二手/手工商品集市。
The Cambridge English dictionary defines a Jumble Sale as;
“a sale of a mixed collection of things that people no longer want.”
But we, at Rumble in the Jumble, believe that this definition doesn’t do justice to the concept. Therefore, we’d like to redefine it as;
“a sale of a mixed collection of every thing you’ve ever wanted”

Rumble in the Jumble returns this May 19th with a celebratory market event in honor of the Buddha's Birthday! Join us at the fabulous Modernista, and enjoy a tasty beverage while you browse the merchandise of the most harmonious collection of makers, crafters, and doers in Beijing!

Satya Yuga Holistic Center will be joining us to present you with their beautiful handmade healing orgonites, soy candles and natural make-up. They are a Beijing based yoga studio, which also holds workshops in natural cosmetics, candles and orgonites.

Today, we introduce Sarah, with her brand Tsepparel. In the course of Sarah’s travels in Asia, she has made a point of familiarizing herself with some of the human rights issues that she has encountered. Tseparrel, which stands for The Social Experiment Apparel, sells T-shirts which represent some of these issues. At the moment, Sarah has four designs, which represent Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Cambodia. Tseparrel is Sarah’s way of bringing awareness and education on these issues to people. And, with each purchase, 30% of the profit goes towards the Human Rights Watch organization

On the menu will be classics like chocolate and pecan cookies, banana bread, and brownies but just for Buddha's Birthday, Southern Mama will also be debuting some new products which combine 2 or more flavors in harmonious balance. Flow Atelier is a handmade accessory studio based in Beijing. Although they are new to Beijing, they create something special and unique for everyone. They use very simple techniques with very special materials such as dried flowers, gold strips and colorful confetti in their earrings. They also have a postmodern style, which will give you a unique look this summer. Rumble is very excited to have Flow Atelier joining us for the first time!

The Blck Lab is a foreign run coffee roaster in China, which sources coffees from all over the world. They have 10 years of experience brewing a variety of different coffee drinks using tried and true brewing methods. Blck Lab also hosts workshops aimed at helping the coffee loving community of Beijing grow. Their target is to ensure that not only do coffee lovers of have access to amazing coffee, but also understand how to prepare and appreciate it in the best ways possible.

Zo's Collection is an Indian infused selection of yoga attire, summer dresses, and silk tops for ladies. All pieces were sourced from Vrndavan; a small, spiritually orientated village in India, and acquired through a scheme created to support the local residents, most of whom are sadhus and widows. Zo's Collection brings a gorgeous selection of perfectly summery and colorful clothing items to Buddha's Birthday Bazaar!

Maria is a professional musician & artist by trade. In her 12 years in Beijing, she has founded both the Beijing International Chamber Orchestra, and her jewellery brand, MaNau Bijoux , which seems to capture the music in her heart.

Kirstie will be joining us with her healthy brand of sweet and nutritious treats, NutriFit. She's excited to be joining Rumble for the first time this month, since she feels that what we put into our bodies, and what we think and believe and do are all connected. She follows many of the Buddha's teachings, and is happy to be a part of a bazaar in celebration of his birthday! A few of the items that Kirstie will have in store for us... Cheesecakes, puddings, and breakfast bowls, all of which are sugar-free and gluten-free!!

"Coquito" is a Puerto Rican cocktail with several different variations. The base ingredients are coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk, cinnamon, and Bacardi white rum. Nutella and pistachio can also be added to this drink to make it extra decadent! And don't worry if you don't drink alcohol, because Lisett will also have non-alcohol variations.

Also make sure to check out the Rumble Booksellers stall. It’s a community stall in which anybody can participate. The books available range from fiction to non-fiction to educational, Chinese to English to French to Swahili (Okay, I don’t know if there will actually be any Swahili books, but if somebody wants to sell them, they can!) Be sure to come and have a browse.

It costs 10kuai to be part of the stall. Books must be dropped off at the venue on the day of the sale before the sale starts.
您只需交10元钱来参与售书，在当天集市开始之前把您想售卖的书籍带来交到二手书摊位就可以了。
