This Sunday, we are visited by Japanese guitarist Shinri Tanaka and his jazz trio. Accompanying him on stage this evening is Yusuke Ishihara on bass and Takeshi Sakamoto on drums. Set a proper end to the week by listening to their jazz sound.

SHINRI TANAKA

When Shinri Tanaka was 15 years old, began to play electric guitar.

He learned to play jazz guitar from Koichi Yabori during Kyorin University student. In Tokyo, He started to play Jazz guitar and to create composition.

He passed Asian scholarship examination and entered Berklee college of music in 1998. Private teacher is Jim Kelly, David Newsam, Bruce Sanders Bruce Bartlett, Bret Willmott, Abigeil Aronson, Mick Goodlick, Hal crook.

He was playing gig in Boston and interchange with various musicians. He graduated Berklee college of music in 2002. After returning to Japan, playing jazz in various places with other musicians and began to crate composition.

In 2017 , He was Producing himself leader album . Band name is HmP5↓Guest player is Motoharu(Ex.SOIL&”PIMP”SESSIONS Saxophone) playing 3 tunes.

 Fall in 2017, He will plan a concert with Classic Guitarist. (Keishi Sumi and Ayane Shino)

YUSUKE ISHIHARA

Yusuke Ishihara began playing electric bass at the age of 14. In 1998, He entered Berklee College of Music as a scholar ship student and studied double bass with Paul Del Nero, Dave Hollender. He also won an award given to the top 5% of students. (Elvin Joens Award)

Studying Classic music, he entered Toho Gakuen school  of music where studied with Masanori Ishikawa  and received Diploma on March 2014.

He formed DUOSUKE, double bass and guitar duo unit, and released first CD 『Acoustic Session』 in 2016.

He received Gold medal at the 36th Asakusa Jazz competition Band Section held in December 2016 , as well as the Soloist Award.

Yusuke is currently based In Tokyo, and performing and recording with great musicians. 

TAKESHI SAKAMOTO

Takeshi Sakamoto have been learning classical piano since I was a child. At the age of 21, I started working as a professional drummer in Japan and recording work with a number of local artists to participate in TV programs, radio, commercials, musicals, and so on. The performances include pop, rock, jazz, funk, rhythm and blues, metal rock and Latin.

In 2009, he went to New York to study in New York. Before the Brooklyn Music Conservatory, he majored in jazz. After that, he transferred to the City College of New York BFA. Jazz Department also majored in jazz and performed in the local area. He also worked with some world-class jazz musicians, such as Jerome. Harris (Sonny Rollins Band), Tex Allen (Gil Evans Orchestra), Andy Mackee (Elvin Jones Quartet), Jason Marshall (Charles Mingus Bigband), Tony Suggs (Pf, ex Count Basie Orchestra), Koichi Osamu (Nakhon, Japanese bassist) , Giuseppe Bassi, Gaetano Partipilo, etc. Greg Hutchinson, Marc Fever, Nathaniel Townsley, learning jazz drums. 

Moved to Taiwan in 2012, he won the honor of Golden Drum King at the New Drums International Film Festival "National Drum King Championship 2013". In 2015, in order to enhance the expansion of its own and the field of activities, Sakamoto International Music Company was established to take over the planning and execution of music events. In 2017, he released the album "Memories of T" with famous Taiwanese saxophonist Yang Xiaoen and famous Japanese musicians. He is a producer, performer and composer.
