November is finally here, and so is our anniversary!
It's been a long way, and Modernista continues to enchant those seeking the city's best live music parties, creative drawing and dancing nights, and some gorgeous cocktails and bites. We want to celebrate with all of you new and old friends at Modernista, so join us for a month of grand festivities along some of our favorite performers at our beloved old location of 44 Baochao Hutong.

Modernits八周年了！十一月是我们的店庆，八年来，多少个有意思的活动，音乐，舞蹈，电影，绘画，戏剧，摄影，文字，跨媒体跨文化跨民族跨性别，多少个狂欢的晚上，多少杯酒多少风流，我们继续以狂欢之名，以人文为本，老地方见。
HALLOWEEN PARTIES
万圣节狂欢
November starts with a real party weekend as it's time for Halloween! Put your creativity to the test and let your inner witch, ghost, skeleton, clown and what not out for an evening of drinking, dancing and celebrating.
这个万圣节狂欢周，周四周五周六，一连三天的狂欢派对，Modernista万圣节狂欢停不了！一场又一场狂欢盛事，百鬼空群而出，选好你的角色道具，为全场的惊喜装扮打Call！
On FRI 1ST, FLIP SIDE will treat us to a scary yet sparkly Halloween show. As they summon the spirits of Beijing with their 70s disco tunes, we dance along. However, this Halloween is no over yet! On SAT 2ND, THE HUNTERS come to haunt us with their explosive funk music!
1号周五，Flip Side乐队带我们穿越冥界，一场地狱迪斯科之夜大爆发！
紧接2号周六，亨特斯乐队破地而出，把地狱的声音带上舞台，主宰着这场万圣节的恐怖疯克摇滚狂欢！万圣节终极一场盛事，百鬼空群而出！

Modernista is turning 8 and so, we've prepared a month long celebration starting this weekend as the actual anniversary date gets close. Old time friends and our favorite music couldn't be missed, so pay attention to our special birthday line up!
这个月Modernista八周年了！这是一个月的狂欢月，不过这个周末开始是真正进入倒数的几天......
Starting on FRI 8TH, we get warmed up with EMBER SWIFT and her band of brilliant musicians. Tonight, they treat us to an evening of original and melodious folk compositions.
Following on SAT 9TH, our dearest friend MARIE CLAUDE LEBEL will brighten our birthday with her presence and cheeky demeanor as her MADEMOISELLE ET SON ORCHESTRE plays the anniversary Saturday show for us! Raise your glass and enjoy her chanson as we celebrate Modernista turning 8.
8号周五先掀开倒数的序幕，加拿大唱作才华女声子玉献上跨中西的原创爵士民谣疯克摇滚专场演出！
9号的周六，我们的最爱的吉卜赛女皇玛丽卡华丽驾临，大小姐乐队全员就位，一场八周年的法式舞会狂欢盛大开始！
Right after that, we show that our little Latin heart still beating strong as the Cuban rhythms of NAVANA JAZZ QUARTET fill the room on SUN 10TH, while on MON 11TH we celebrate our actual birth day with our very special house band SAVOR LATINO! They never fail to bring their energy to our LATIN NIGHTS and this ANNIVERSARY EVENING will be no exception! Right before, as every Monday, we indulge in our weekly salsa classes, taught by Cuban teacher Gustavo from 7.30 PM (Intermediate) and 8.30 PM (Beginner).
紧接10号周日，八周年的前一天，我们迎来古巴的爵士声音，Navana爵士四重奏，一场梦幻的美好爵士夜。
11号周一，店庆正日，Modernista八周年！这个晚上，我们与拉丁味道乐队盛大狂欢！
店庆碰上周一的拉丁之夜，我们的萨萨舞课人气高企，型男导师Gustavo继续开班授课，7点半中级班，8点半初级班，详情请扫二维码。
当然，每周的萨萨舞课过后，真正来自拉美的拉丁味道乐队都会震撼登场，为我们带来全北京最狂野的拉丁舞会！
And then every year, for our anniversary, we gift ourselves a special show. This time, we have chosen to bring back one of the first shows we ever had at Modernista, as RAVI & THE SHADOWS will put a spell on THU 14TH with a mesmerizing and rare shadow puppet performance. Join us for a special anniversary night with MASTER WANG's ancestral Chinese Shadow Puppet art and Ravi's experimental live music!

On FRI 15TH, THE REBEL 5 commits to our birthday-bash, adding their great sound of rock, Motown and funk. And, on SAT 16TH, we get ready for the party of the month together with a long standing Modernista favorite, STEVIE MAC & THE MAC DADDIES!
Jump along as they deliver some musical pop good birthday wishes to us.

巴西狂欢
It's been 8 years since Modernista became the unofficial home of Brazil in Beijing! Since they first taught us how to make Caipirinhas back in a cold winter night of 2012, we have always cater to our Portuguese speaking friends with all our heart. We recall countless saraus, Roberto Carlos cover shows, book and film presentations, many wild nights of Brazilian live funk, and of course, caipirinhas! We want to take care of you, forever and ever.
On FRI 22ND, to mark the occasion, we have invited China's most famous samba ensemble TEMPLO DO SAMBA to fill our stage with their rhythmic drumming and joyful singing. Tonight, like many years ago, we move to a steady flow of caipirinhas!

Our long standing jazz nights have seen more and more international artists joining our local stars year by year, so you can enjoy some new performances every time. Check what's up for anniversary month!
周日爵士之夜四周年了！当然我们的爵士演出已经不只限在周日，越来越多的外国到访的爵士大师与常驻本地的爵士好手济济一堂，好不热闹，一起看看这个周年狂欢月的爵士演出！
Starting on SUN 3RD, we welcome Mexican violinist EDUARDO BORTOLOTTI to share with us his unique music incorporating jazz violin and elements of traditional Mexican folk, thanks to the collaboration of the Embassy of Mexico.
首先在3号周日，墨西哥大使馆在中国庆祝“墨西哥全球周”，与Modernista携手呈献一场墨西哥爵士演出，远渡而来的墨西哥小提琴家博尔托洛蒂献上一场爵士独奏，结合独创爵士与墨西哥传统民谣，爵士迷万勿错过！
Following, on THU 7TH, Italian-based, Hong Kong born singer and composer HEIDI LI will be introducing her music in Beijing for an evening of vocal jazz, accompanied by pianist Manuel Magrini.
7号周四，又一新登场乐手空降我们的大舞台，意大利爵士界的瞩目新星，香港爵士创作歌手李恺怡四重奏，一个绝对不能错过的爵士夜！
On SUN 17TH, we are visited by Japanese guitarist SHINRI TANAKA, playing along Yusuke Ishihara on bass and Takeshi Sakamoto on drums. Meanwhile on THU 21ST, we get the weekend started with keyboardist ZHOU XINREN, who incorporates funk and soul to her jazz musical ensemble. Last but not least, a very awaited show is that of touring Israelian saxophonist MAAYAN SMITH on SUN 24TH, who will delight us with his soulful jazz and lyrical improvisation along local musicians.
17号周日，我们有日本来访的爵士吉他手田中真理爵士三重奏，可一不可再！
21号周四，我们有另一位新登场的爵士键琴手周欣韧爵士四重奏，结合疯克骚灵与爵士，期待！
紧接24号周日，我们有正在中国巡演的以色列萨克斯风手杜Maayan Smith爵士四重奏，来访的以色列音乐家与北京爵士界的国际好手一次零距离的碰撞，真的要发生了！

SWING NIGHT
周三摇摆舞之夜八周年
This month we celebrate 8 YEARS OF SWING DANCE AT MODERNISTA.
The very first night we opened, swing music was sounding all over the place, dancers spinning here and there and our teacher Leru was already showing everyone how Russians drink at a party!
Time has past but we're still in love with that 1930's retro fun, so we have again arranged this November performances by the NOAH HOCKER SWING QUARTET on WED 6TH & WED 20TH, social dance evenings and a weekly BALBOA BEGINNER CRASH COURSE for you to join EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9 PM.
这个Modernista每周三的摇摆舞之夜已经八周年了！从开店第一天摇摆的音乐已经响起，乐茹老师多年来教导我们摇摆舞者的舞姿，以及俄罗斯人是如何豪饮狂欢！
这个月继续编排紧密，每个周三的摇摆舞之夜，9点至9点半，将会特设一堂零基础速成班（30元一节课），现场即席报名。9点半后摇摆舞舞会开始，随时欢迎参加或参观！
特别注意，
6号，20号，两个周三，Noah Hocker摇摆四重奏现场乐队隆重登场，城里其中一个最期待的复古摇摆舞会！
总之每周三摇摆舞之夜，都是一场复古华丽的狂欢，欢迎参加或参观！

The event we are definItely most proud of, our beautiful Drink & Draw keeps growing every Tuesday for the past six years. A real source of creativity and friends, this is one of our favorite nights. Come to enjoy them with us, have a drink, draw, and be part of our community as we discover a new theme, models and stage set up for you every week!
而在每周二的前卫绘画工作室，我们继续喝酒画画作乐，每周主题大不一样，现场提供纸笔，同学们自由发挥！
