  王融道(王玉光)


Founder of RONG shadow play studio, studied in Japan in the early 90's. Back to China in 2001,  for promoting the old and beautiful art of Chinese shadow puppetry, he has done research through China, been taught by predecessors, and collected art pieces and information from different shadow puppetry masters.


北京融皮影创始人,90年代初留学日本。2001年回国,为传承与发掭袓国优秀传统文化皮影,走遍全国考察,并受到前辈路联达老师精心点播。在此期间收藏了许多各派民间大师的皮影木偶艺术精品和相关的珍贵资料。



After joining Shanghai Internation Jazz Festival, China's Got Talent,Beijing Hanggai Festival and such events in 2013, Wang receiced favourable reviews from the media and started performing to domestic and international tourists in 2014.

2013年参加上海国际爵士音乐节;中国达人秀节目;北京杭盖音乐节等等大型文艺演出,受到相关各媒体的广泛关注与好评。2014年在什刹海野鸭岛水上剧场每日为国内外游客演出,受到广泛好评。



Inheriting for passion, combining for approval, Wang treats Rong(combining) as his motto, aims to embrace different culture and styles, and make this Chinese traditional art alive and remarkable!

For many, Chinese shadow puppetry became the memory of last generation or lost history. Anyhow, it is a cultural expression but storytelling of the old, it can be about the present, it can spread worldwide.


皮影戏对于很多人来说,那是上一代人的童年记忆,或者只有在光影传播中才可见的历史。其实,皮影从来不是只讲过去的艺术,它是一种文化表现形式,也可以讲述此刻当下,可以说中国的,也可说是世界的。



Thanks to the artists like Wang, Chinese shadow puppetry now combines different style, even with pop culture. Such as Rock N Roll shadow puppetry and digital shadow fes, more posibilities for art are born. 


经由王玉光等艺术家的努力,皮影融合南腔北调,汲取世界流行文化的同时兼容民族特色,在时代的进化中裂变出无限可能,如配合揺滚爵士伴奏,变身揺滚皮影;借助数字交互技术,形成声光电震撼体验等等。光影交织,音乐与画面彼此呼应,逼真生动有如身临其境,极具感染力。

RAVI / 薛挺


薛挺,北京人,35岁开始学习音乐,国内首位“族际音乐”个人实践的先行者。35岁时薛挺自称听到了命运转折的声音,心里不明所以,身体就已经不知方向的去寻找了。薛挺从前是一位纪实摄影师,其后从摄影的经历中,以世界国家地理的战略眼光,敏感的捕捉到在世界偏远生僻地域的民族之声,离开都市十年寻访学习世界各民族边际( 苏丹 埃及 印度 土耳其 南非 欧洲 中东及东南亚一带等)及国内新疆 蒙区等少数民族鲜为人知的乐种文化。十年间自我修习掌握 :印度西塔琴 维族都塔尔 呼麦 口弦 楚吾尔(胡茄)澳洲吹管Digiredoo 等具有生命能量的民族乐器,从此创立“族际音乐”概念.


Ravi, borned in Beijing, used to work as a photographer. When he was 35, he claimed to have heard the voice of destiny, started to travel around to learn tribal music instruments. He has been travelling to Sudan, Egypt, India, Turkey, South Africa, XinJiang, Mongolia etc. In India, he studied in the Institute of Dhrupad In Bhopal, specialized in Dhrupad music, Sitar and Raga. As a tribal musician, he can also play rare tribal instruments from different regions which he believes there is spiritual energy.

皮影的故事


Shadow puppetry originated during the Han Dynasty (206 B.C.–220 A.D.) when one of the concubines of Emperor Wu Han died from an illness. The emperor was devastated, and he summoned his court officers to bring his beloved back to life. The officers made a shape of the concubine using donkey leather. Her joints were animated using 11 separate pieces of the leather, and adorned with painted clothes. Using an oil lamp they made her shadow move, bringing her back to life. 


皮影戏俗称灯影戏,是中国最古老的戏剧形式之一,源于1500余年前的中国古都长安,盛行于唐宋,至今仍在中国民间普遍流传,皮影选用上等牛皮,驴皮,经削、磨、洗、刻、着色等24道工序,手工精雕细刻3000余刀而成,皮影的艺术创意汲取了中国汉代帛画、画像石、画像砖和唐宋寺院壁画之手法与风格,其造型精巧别致,刻工细腻,施色考究,充分表现了中国传统文化博大精深,民间艺术的倔巧淳厚。


Shadow theatre became quite popular as early as the Song Dynasty, when holidays were marked by the presentation of many shadow plays. During the Ming Dynasty there were 40 to 50 shadow show troupes in the city of Beijing alone. 

In the 13th century, the shadow show became a regular recreation in the barracks of the Mongolian troops. It was spread by the conquering Mongols to distant countries like Persia, Arabia, and Turkey, being later introduced to other Southeastern Asian countries. The earliest shadow theatre screens were made of mulberry paper. The storytellers generally used the art to tell events between various war kingdoms or stories of Buddhist sources. Today, puppets made of leather and moved on sticks are used to tell dramatic versions of traditional fairy tales and myths. In Gansu province, it is accompanied by Daoqing music, while in Jilin, it is presented with Huanglong music forms, some of the basis of modern Chinese opera. Also, traditional Chinese shadow puppetry, one of the main forms of entertainment in ancient China, is shown in different modern films like Zhang Yimou's "To Live".


陕西皮影戏起源于汉代以前。《海阳竹枝词》中有首描写皮影 戏演出的诗:“张灯作戏调翻新,顾囊徘徊知逼真;环佩姗姗连步稳,帐前活见李夫人。”(汉武帝李夫人)这是皮影戏的初级阶段,而 鼎盛期为唐代,相传汉文帝时代(公元前179-156年),太子刘启出生后啼哭不止,整皇宫为此苦恼不堪。一次,一个宫女偶然发现年幼的太子盯着窗外树叶投在地上的影子出神,忘记了啼哭,并高兴的手舞足蹈。于是,宫女们用树叶剪成各种人形,动物的道具,用灯光投影在白布上哄逗太子开心。由于树叶很快就会干枯,保存时间太短,后来宫女们发现用牛皮做成的道具韧性好,易保存,易收藏,皮影由此而生。
