On July 22nd, original jazz project CAN Trio will perform their modern jazz tunes again at Modernista. NATHANIEL GAO 高太行

SAX 萨克斯 

Nathaniel Gao is a saxophonist and composer who has been based in Beijing since 2006. He has been a key contributor to the local jazz scene as both a co-leader of the quintet Red Hand as well as a leader of his own quartet and trio. Additionally, Gao has been active in an eclectic range of other musical projects including Three Sergeants Syndrome, The Beijing City Big Band, Afrokoko Roots and Bu Yiding. He has performed at the Ninegates Jazz Festival, the MIDI Jazz Festival, the Chongqing Jazz Festival, and the Ditan Park Music Festival, Jarasum International Jazz Festival and at major venues in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and Guangzhou. Gao graduated from UNI in 2006 with BA in music performance and in 2011 completed an MA in jazz performance at the City College of New York.

高太行，2006年以来活跃在北京爵士乐界的萨克斯演奏家和作曲家。作为“红手”五重奏乐队的成员之一和他的四重奏和三重奏乐队的主导者，他为北京爵士音乐做出了重要贡献。他参与的乐队还包括“夏佳四重奏”，“Bad Monk”, “大卫”，“北京 Blue Note 乐队”，“Three Sergeants Syndrome”，“北京城市大乐队”，“Afrokoko Roots”和“不一定”。他参与了“九门爵士音乐节”，“海龟岛爵士音乐节”，“新泻爵士音乐节”，“广州爵士音乐节”，“迷笛爵士音节”和“地坛音乐节”。高太行毕业于2006年获得美国北艾奥瓦大学音乐表演学士学位，于2011年获得纽约城市学院爵士演奏硕士学位。

WANG CHENHUAI 王晨淮

DOUBLE BASS 低音贝斯 

Wang Chenhuai began studying music at the age of 14, initially as a guitarist in hometown of Tianjin, China. After high school, Chenhuai attended the Contemporary Music Academy in Beijing where my focus turned to jazz and He began to study double bass. Chenhuai influenced by the music of great musicians such as Charlie Parker, Charlie Haden, John Zorn and Steve Coleman who became a huge impact on his musical content. In 2008 I started undergraduate studies in jazz at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, Netherlands, graduated with a full scholarship in 2013. Upon graduation in 2014, he returned to Beijing to focus on performing. In 2015 Chenhuai began graduate studies in Jazz Performance at Queens College. He had the opportunity to study with Antonio Hart, Ralph Peterson, Michael Moore, David Berkman, Paul Benner, Joe Martin, Dennis Mackrel, Michael Mossman, JorisTeepe, Christophe Lier, etc.. Chenhuai has also played with Erik Truffaz, Don Braden, Matthew Shipp, Ted Nash, Chris Washburne, Theo Croker, etc. in the past few years.

爵士贝斯乐手。从14岁起接触音乐，并于17岁考入北京现代音乐学院，随后音乐生涯的发展转向爵士乐并开始学习低音提琴。2008年王晨淮被荷兰格罗宁根州的克劳斯王子音乐学院特招开始攻读爵士乐学士，2013年以全额奖学金毕业。2015年赴美国纽约皇后学院攻读演奏专业硕士于2017年毕业。曾师从Antonio Hart，Ralph Peterson，Michael Moore，David Berkman，Paul Benner，Joe Martin，Dennis Mackrel，Michael Mossman，Joris Teepe，Christophe Lier等教授，也曾与Erik Truffaz，Don Braden，Matthew Shipp，Ted Nash，Chris Washburne，Theo Croker等众多音乐家合作演出。

ALEX MORRIS

DRUMS 鼓 

Alex Morris, born in 1988, has performed at the Wembley Arena in London, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Beijing MasterCard Center, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, as well as many other venues throughout Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, Australia, North Africa, and the United States. He has collaborated with the Asian artists Jolin Tsai, Kris Wu, G.E.M. and more, as well as appearing alongside Ray Charles alumnus Marcus Belgrave and the jazz greats Robin Eubanks and Rufus Reid. Alex is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he was awarded a Conservatory Initiative Grant Supporting Imagination and Excellence and the Conservatory Dean’s Scholarship for his studies of Jazz and American classical music. 

出生于1988 年，已在伦敦温布利体育馆、迪士尼音乐厅、位于纽约市林肯中心里的Dizzy's Club Coca Cola 以及亚洲、欧洲、澳大利亚、非洲北部、加勒比地区，和美国等地的其他音乐场馆演出。2010 年Alex 移居北京，在这几年中他与崔健、许巍、蔡依林、吴亦凡、邓紫棋等明星以及爵士乐手Marcus Belgrave还有爵士长号大师Robin Eubanks和Rufus Reid等知名乐手合作。并参与中国之星、中国梦之声、中国新说唱、跨界歌王等节目录制。Alex 毕业于美国欧柏林音乐学院，师从世界知名爵士鼓手Billy Hart, 毕业时学院授予CIGSIE 补助奖同时荣获学习爵士乐的院长奖学金。
