Seesaw Quintet are renowned for their crafty merger of a Western Jazz practices with a traditional Chinese music. They unfold their creative compositions and fusions just like tales full of magic, textures and vivid styles.  Tune in for one more special Thursday performance.

FENG WEI 冯维

PIANO 钢琴

Feng Wei is an accomplished pianist and composer, originally from Harbin. He is the leader and mastermind of the Seesaw Quintet, well known in Beijing for their fusion Jazz Funk style, immersed in Chinese Folk music influences.

爵士钢琴手，中国爵士音乐界正在崛起的新一代爵士乐手。09年开始研究学习爵士乐，在天津组件了自己的第一支爵士乐队威力三重奏，以演奏传统爵士乐为主。2013年为了音乐梦想搬到北京，继续学习并开始创作自己的音乐。组建了seesaw爵士四重奏，代表作（月牙五更、seesaw、石雀北、冬至马赛等作品）融合了中国民乐元素。奠定了自己的音乐风格。

PAN QI 潘琦

SAX 萨克斯 

Pan graduated from the Department for Modern Music of Tianjin Conservatory of Music. He is a first-level member of the Jazz Association of the Chinese Musicians Association, and he took part in many performances done by the institution mentioned. Currently he is playing with China Oriental Song and Dance Ensemble, and also participated in the national tour of "Oriental Voice", recorded different programs with CCTV, and was part of various performances for important state events. With Jiangsu Satellite TV he recorded special "Chinese Band" program. Pan also participated at the 16th American Chinese Spring Festival Gala with a solo saxophone performance, the Great Wall International Culture and Art Festival of the Belt and Road Initiative. He participated in a certified training course for music artists organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Recorded albums with the Seesaw and Ancient Tide and participated at Tsinghua University and college exchange performances. He is renowned for forming Gemini Jazz Band.

毕业于天津音乐学院现代音乐系，自幼师从于中国著名萨克斯演奏家，教育家，国家一级演奏员陆廷荃先生。中国音乐家协会爵士乐协会一级会员，并参加协会演出。 现任中国东方歌舞团青年萨克斯演奏家，参加《东方之声》的全国巡演，央视节目录制，参加重要国事活动的演出，中央党校的演出几各类慰问演出。 参加江苏卫视《中国乐队》节目录制。参加第十六届美国华人春晚担任萨克斯独奏，一带一路长城国际文化艺术节。参加文化和旅游部办的文艺工作者培训班，拿到培训证书。参与《Seesaw》《古潮》乐队专辑录制。参加清华大学及高校交流演出，组建双子星爵士乐队。

SHAO HAHA 邵哈哈

DRUMS 鼓 

Shao is a drums spokesperson for Yamaha and Bosphorus cymbals. He is also lecturer at Beijing Modern Music Academy. He worked with many artists and bands: Zhang Chu Band, Zheng Jun Band, Avanti Band, Sand Band, Yinjiao Jazz Quartet, Beijing Senlin Big Band, Luoning Jazz Trio, Golden Buddha Orchestra, Li Gaoyang Quartet, Jerry Bergonzi, Carl Winther, Abu Trio, Feng Mantian, Xinyuefu, among others. Important performances he took part in include: Beijing Nine Gates International Jazz Festival, Jazz Shanghai Music Festival, Taiwan Taichung Jazz Festival, Berlin International Jazz Festival in Germany, Beishan Jazz Festival, Shenzhen Jazz Festival, Hong Kong May Fourth Youth Music Festival, Beijing Changyang Music Festival, Beijing Music Valley Music Festival, Nanjing Forest Music Festival, Hangzhou West Lake Music Festival, Kazakhstan International Jazz Festival, French Marseille Jazz Festival, Paris Pompey Art Center, and many moe. He also accompanied the Golden Buddha Jazz Orchestra to visit Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Croatia on behalf of the China Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

SHENG ZHI 盛志  

BASS 贝斯

Sheng Zhi is a bassist and a bass teacher in the Jazz School of Beijing Modern Music Research Institute. He excells in a variety of music styles, formed and participated in different styles performances with many bands. In 2008, he formed Los Amigos with group of his friends. He was invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to perform. He performed with twice Grammy nominated band Ochun. 

盛志，贝斯演奏家，北京现代音乐研修学院爵士乐学院贝斯教师，擅长多种音乐风格。组建并参与多支不同风格的乐队，2008年和朋友们一起组建Los Amigos，受外交部和文化部邀请演出，同年受邀与两届格莱美提名乐队Ochun同台演出。自从业以来，演出活动不断，参与了各大音乐节，与众多艺人均有合作。

HUANG YAQIONG 黄亚琼  

ERHU 二胡

Huang Yaqiong, musician and Swing dancer. Graduated from the Erhu Department of the Folk Music Department of the Central Conservatory of Music. Although she had been learning traditional folk music since childhood, she has always been interested and curious about other music genres in various styles. In 2007, she founded the "World National Music Group" composed of 4 Chinese musical instruments (erhu, dulcimer, pipa, flute) and was invited by the embassies of Greece, Finland, Chile, Peru, Bangladesh, Indonesia and other embassies to participate in the cultural exchange performance activities. After learning Swing dance in 2013, she developed a keen interest in Jazz. In 2014, she worked with Nord to upload the sound samples of 15 Chinese musical instruments to the sound library, so that the world can hear more traditional Chinese musical instruments. In May 2016, she formed the "Jazz Huang Yaqiong Erhu Quartet" and began to learn and study the fusion of erhu and Jazz. In 2017, she joined the "Seesaw Jazz Quartet" and represented China in the "10th International Soul Music and Singing Art Festival" in Egypt in September of the same year, showing the beautiful erhu tone to the world audience in a new way. In July 2018, she was invited to perform with the famous Japanese Jazz band CUG Jazz Orchestra Big Band. In March 2019, she recorded the CUG 30th Anniversary Album as a resident guest musician. 

黄亚琼，音乐人，摇摆舞者。毕业于中央音乐学院民乐系二胡专业。虽从小学习传统民族音乐，却一直对各种风格的其它音乐类型抱有浓厚的兴趣以及好奇心。2007年在校期间就一起创建了由4件中国乐器（二胡，扬琴，琵琶，笛子）组成的“世界民族音乐小组”，并受希腊、芬兰、智利、秘鲁、孟加拉、印度尼西亚等使馆邀请参加文化交流演出活动。自2013年开始学习摇摆舞后，对爵士产生了浓厚的兴趣。2014年与Nord公司合作，把15种中国乐器的声音采样上传到声音库，让世界可以听到更多中国传统乐器的声音。2016年5月，组建“黄亚琼爵士二胡四重奏”，开始学习与研究二胡与爵士乐的融合演奏。2017年加入“ Seesaw 爵士四重奏”，同年9月一起代表中国参加埃及“第10届国际心灵音乐与歌唱艺术节”，把幽美的二胡音色以一种崭新的方式展现给世界的听众。2018年7月，受邀于日本著名爵士大乐队CUG Jazz Orchestra Big Band 一起演出，并于2019年3月作为常驻客座乐手一起录制CUG三十年庆专辑。
