Ready for a new jazz experience? Join us as improvisational jazz trio Bad Monk hits our stage for the first time, with special guest Wen Zhiyong on trumpet and electronic effects. With regulars Nathaniel Gao on sax, Simone Schirru on guitar, and Xiao Dou on drums, they promise to deliver a fast ride, dreaming jazz kind of night. Melodic yet unpredictable in their turns, we know already magic happens when these bad four jump up together on stage.

NATHANIEL GAO 高太行
SAX 萨克斯
Nathaniel Gao is a saxophonist and composer who has been based in Beijing since 2006. He has been a key contributor to the local Jazz scene as both a co-leader of the quintet Red Hand as well as a leader of his own quartet and trio. Additionally, Gao has been active in an eclectic range of other musical projects including Three Sergeants Syndrome, The Beijing City Big Band, Afrokoko Roots and Bu Yiding. He has performed at the Ninegates Jazz Festival, the MIDI Jazz Festival, the Chongqing Jazz Festival, and the Ditan Park Music Festival, Jarasum International Jazz Festival and at major venues in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and Guangzhou. Gao graduated from UNI in 2006 with BA in music performance and in 2011 completed an MA in jazz performance at the City College of New York.
高太行，2006年以来活跃在北京爵士乐界的萨克斯演奏家和作曲家。作为“红手”五重奏乐队的成员之一和他的四重奏和三重奏乐队的主导者，他为北京爵士音乐做出了重要贡献。他参与的乐队还包括“夏佳四重奏”，“Bad Monk”, “大卫”，“北京 Blue Note 乐队”，“Three Sergeants Syndrome”，“北京城市大乐队”，“Afrokoko Roots”和“不一定”。他参与了“九门爵士音乐节”，“海龟岛爵士音乐节”，“新泻爵士音乐节”，“广州爵士音乐节”，“迷笛爵士音节”和“地坛音乐节”。高太行毕业于2006年获得美国北艾奥瓦大学音乐表演学士学位，于2011年获得纽约城市学院爵士演奏硕士学位。
SIMONE SCHIRRU
GUITAR 吉他
Simone Schirru is an Italian guitar player who works and lives in Beijing. He has been playing in many festivals and prestigious places around the world crossing Italy, Belgium, United States and India. He also graduated in Master Jazz Guitar at Lemmens Institute. Nowadays he is teaching at the Contemporary Music Academy of Beijing while performing around the city and leading different bands under his name such as RoOom. He is a sideman in severalother bands. He is a member of the BlueNoteBeijing Jazz Orchestra performing with special guests such as Micheal Mossman, Jaleel Shaw, Ingrid Jansen, Kris Davis, Conrad Herwig and Mark Turner. In February 2017, in order to promote creative jazz music in Beijing, he founded 3C (Creative Composers Collective). During his career, he has also performed with Gene Jackson, Sabir Mateen, David Cossin, Enzo Favata, U.T. Gandhi, Nicola Lancerotti, Nathaniel Gao TaiHang, J Kyle Gregory, Danny Zanker, Li XiaoChuan, ZhangXiongGuan, Dan Kinzelman, Danilo Gallo, Gast Waltzing, Ernest Dawkins, and Kenyatte Abdur Rahman among others.
Simone Schirru是一位工作并生活在北京的意大利籍吉他手。他与众多乐队都有过密切的合作。他们的足迹遍布世界各地许多音乐节和颇具声望的地方，如意大利，比利时，美国和印度。他在比利时Lemmens学院完成了自己的爵士吉他硕士学位。当下，Simone Schirru任教于北京现代音乐学院，并积极活跃于北京的各类爵士音乐演出现场，带领许多以他为首的乐队演出, 例如RoOom。并在许多乐队中都扮演着重要角色。他是BlueNote Beijing大乐队 -- BNBJO的其中一员，时常会与BNBJO邀请的特别嘉宾同台演出，如Micheal Mossman， Jaleel Shaw，Kris Davis，Ingrid Jansen，Conrad Herwig 和 Mark Turner。2017年2月份，为了改善北京的创意爵士音乐氛围，他组建了3C团队，集结了在北京的一批有志于改善中国创意爵士乐环境的作曲家。

Beijing-born drummer Xiao Dou started to learn drumming at the age of 19, under the tutelage of Izumi Koga, Steve Altenberg, Joost van Schaik, Ralph Peterson, and Gene Jackson. With their help, he gradually formed his own sound concept and playing style. Since the beginning of his career in 2001, he has received praise and attention and has frequently exchanged expertise and worked with many well-known musicians at home and abroad. On the basis of traditional Jazz music culture, he constantly explores and tries modern art forms. During his career growth and development, he was mainly influenced by Elvin Jones, Roy Haynes, Tony Williams, Philly Joe Jones, Gregory Hutchinson, Marcus Gilmore, Nasheet Waits, Jochen Rueckert, Jim Black, Dan Weiss, Tyshawn Sorey, and others.
鼓手小豆。出生于北京，19岁开始学习打鼓，分别师从于Izumi Koga，Steve Altenberg，Joost van Schaik，Ralph Peterson，Gene Jackson。在他们的帮助下逐渐形成了自己的声音理念和演奏风格。自2001年开始其演奏生涯以来备受好评与关注，频繁与众多国内外知名音乐家进行交流合作。在扎根于传统爵士音乐文化的基础上，不断探索尝试现代艺术形式和全新的未知領域。在成长过程中主要受到了Elvin Jones，Roy Haynes，Tony Williams，Philly Joe Jones，Gregory Hutchinson，Marcus Gilmore，Nasheet Waits， Jochen Rueckert，Jim Black，Dan Weiss， Tyshawn Sorey等人的影响。

Wen Zhiyong is a freelance musician, trumpet player, composer, producer, film and television arranger.
He studied with Ji Ruikai, Adlf Holler, Kurt Weiss, and Alex Sipiagin. His experience in bands: Not necessarily band, Red hand quintet, Chaojian combination...etc. His compositions: "Two birds with one stone", "Remembering Ai Ling","Carambola Courtyard", "Aleppo Wuyuan", "Calm down" and etc.
自由音乐人，小号演奏，作曲、制作人，影视编曲。
曾师从 冀瑞凯、Adlf Holler、Kurt Weiss、Alex Sipiagin。乐队经历：不一定乐队、红手五重奏、朝简组合......等。他的作品：《一举两得》、《记艾灵》、《杨桃院儿》、《阿勒颇婺源似》、《风平浪静》等
