Here at Modernista Jazz has a special place in our hearts. That's why we have our Sunday Jazz Series. Every Sunday (and a few weekdays) we dedicate the evening to this enigmatic and celebrated musical genre with live bands. It's not just any Jazz though, each evening is its own style within the genre, from the classic to the experimental and everything in between. Be you new or a connoisseur, can come and delight in all things Jazz.

AMANDA LATINA
阿满妲拉丁爵士乐队
What is the language of love? Spanish? Portuguese? What about the sexiness from the tongue of English, Mandarin, and Cantonese? You decide when Amanda Latina takes the stage on Thursday and serenades you with romantic lyrics from all of these. Lead singer Amanda Chan will bring Latin jazz from Cuba and Brazil. After all, love is the universal language.

Okay, maybe Berlin didn't know our hot spot in Beijing, but Meng Qingze sure does! Hear jazz classics from Berlin and other great songwriters of all time as you immerse yourself in the timeless elegance of jazz this Thursday night with saxophonist Meng Qingze and his quartet.

“Rocket Number 9, off to the planet Venus!” With that, experimental jazz pioneer Sun Ra launched jazz into space, setting a course for far-out sounds to come. Hear the latest call from the heavens as Satellite brings experimental jazz to Modernista. They'll be joined by special guest Gabr for his first orbit with the group. This Thursday, strap in tight!
