Great music is something you can always go back to. That's why Mavlan Group are mainstays at Modernista. You might see them once and think you've done it…but the improvisation inherent in flamenco and gypsy guitar makes each one special. Their show perfectly sets the mood for a mid-week groove! This music is timeless, and whether you're new to it or have seen their show before, it's always something new!

Get ready to see the showcase of Lannie’s original compositions, fusing soul and jazz together under one unique style. Going back more than 100 years now, Shanghai has a long legacy of jazz, and she can proudly be considered part of it. Come see what the second century of Shanghai jazz is made of!

Friday night will be soundtracked by Easy Street, one of Beijing's best purveyors of great pop hits. It will be singalong time for sure! Then, get the late night happy hour shots flowing as DJ Sira keeps the dance floor glowing pink!

But no one will hear you…because we got 3 great bands and a killer DJ: Kuduvillands is a female led dance band, playing trance and techno metal; The Harridans play freak disco made for dancing; Back Seat Bingo is a 7-piece band covering tunes from the original days of rock 'n' roll; and DJ Vincent Von Rock will play scary-good tunes! 致敬三重奏之夜
Sunday, Simone Schirru Trio will bring their new project "Misterioso" to Modernista, paying tribute to one of the innovators of bop — Thelonious Monk. Bop jazz started in New York in the 1940s and the man nicknamed Melodious Thunk was one of its earliest purveyors. Known for his unconventional style of playing, he is without a doubt one of the great composers and characters in the history of jazz. Come enjoy as they explore his catalogue!
