We are Bill Xu Quintet, led by Bill Xu with members including saxophonist Wang Jiabao, bassist Wang Yisā, drummer Wu Enci, and keyboardist Zhang Zun. Our music is deeply rooted in traditional blues and continues to be inspired by its charm. The name of our band pays tribute to the pioneer of the golden era of Jump Blues—Louis Jordan & His Tympany Five. In both composition and performance, we focus on recreating the essence of Texas blues and New Orleans Jump Blues from the 1940s to the early 1960s. What we cherish most is the authentic expression, full-bodied passion, and pure rhythm that defined blues music of that era.
