This Tuesday at Modernista’s Songwriter Series, Heseri Jalantai returns with a set rooted in heritage yet open to the world. Drawing from Mongolian and Manchu lineage, he weaves in Daur, Turkish, Egyptian, Indian, and other global influences through a collection of traditional instruments. The result is immersive and meditative — a dialogue between ancient timbres and contemporary sensibility. THELONIOUS MONK TRIBUTE
孟克致敬专场
On Wednesday night, Modernista presents Monk’s Dream — a tribute to Thelonious Monk, one of the most singular voices in jazz history. Often linked to bebop yet entirely his own, Monk reshaped the language of jazz piano through bold dissonance, angular phrasing, rhythmic displacement, and the masterful use of silence. Whole-tone colors, tone clusters, unexpected pauses — his music feels deliberately off-center, proving that tension can swing and “wrong” notes can shine.
The evening revisits enduring works such as “Round Midnight,” “Straight, No Chaser,” “Blue Monk,” “Well, You Needn’t,” and “Ruby, My Dear.” A night of asymmetry and elegance, humor and depth — step into Monk’s beautifully unpredictable universe.
周三之夜，老摩呈现 Monk’s Dream —— 致敬爵士乐史上最独树一帜的音乐家之一：Thelonious Monk。孟克常被归入比波普，却始终超越流派。他以不协和音、棱角分明的旋律、错位节奏与极具张力的留白，重塑了爵士钢琴的表达方式。全音阶、音簇、突如其来的停顿，使音乐在“失衡”中找到优雅，在张力中保有摇摆。

Literary, reflective, and emotionally grounded — two distinct textures meeting in one intimate evening.
本周四，远东流亡诗社与掌纹乐队同台呈现一晚特别演出。远东流亡诗社以 unplugged 民谣与即兴诗歌为核心，气质怀旧而忧伤；掌纹乐队则以城市民谣为底色，融入独立摇滚的温度与力量。诗性与律动在同一夜晚交汇，细腻而真诚。
