传统时装行业从原材料到面料再到成衣，每一个环节都精益求精，同时也带来了许许多多的污染与浪费。
数据统计，时尚产业是仅次于石油化工产业的全球第二大环境污染制造者。其原因包括但不限于大量化纤制品的使用及纺织过程中所产生的大量废水，还有处理废弃衣物所占用的资源。
随着全球环境污染愈发严重，越来越多心怀责任的设计师意识到纺织产品的制造与消费对环境的影响，并开始向可持续时尚的方向努力。
他们试图冲破“生产—浪费—污染”的怪圈，或积极开发环保材料、或采用零浪费的制版方式制衣、或以预售的方式来减少商品滞销。可以说，“可持续设计”逐渐成为了未来时尚产业发展的一大趋势。
“三川”:由上海视觉艺术学院德稻实验班葛特立工作室的学生创办，集合23名青年设计师的设计作品。作品围绕“三生万物”这一大主题展开，他们通过创新版型设计达到“一衣多穿”、“one size fit all”、“零浪费”等可持续理念。每一件作品都蕴含着他们对当今时尚行业现状的思考与诠释。
“三”源于道家“三生万物”之意；同时，我们处于大学三年级这样一个稳定又富有创造力的年纪；希望以“三川”之名，激励我们成为时尚行业的中坚力量。
