The latest Android and iOS version to WeChat (7.0.4) launched on May 5th adds a new feature allowing users to set their WeChat moments viewable within the latest 1 month.
Though not included in the update description, the newly added "Last 1 month" feature have been a top 3 trending hashtag on Weibo since its launch. Before this new privacy setting, Wechat users could set their moments viewable for 6 months, 3 days, or all the time.
It has been over 2 years since the "Last 6 months" and "Last 3 days" settings were released. Zhang Xiaolong, the founder of Wechat said that over 300 millions Wechat users set their moments viewable for the last 3 days when this setting became available.

via「Me」->「Settings」->「Privacy」->「Viewable by Others」, and Moments posted before your selected time limit will be hidden from friends.
The new privacy setting received various reactions. Judging from discussions on Weibo, it seems to be welcomed by many users because "3 days is too little and half a year is too much, whereas 1 month allows just the right amount of exposure"; but there are others saying that there's no point in providing such options since people can choose not to post what they don't want others to know. Some suggest that it would be better if the privacy settings could be customized.
