The Major Holiday Arrangement in 2017

2017 is coming soon, so does the Spring Festival.  Have you begun to make a plan for your coming holiday?  The major holiday arrangement in the next year has been announced with which you can plan your trip next year from now.

Notice: The dates, marked in the red box and the black box, are holidays and working days respectively.

元(yuán) means "first", 旦(dàn) means "day", so "New Year's Day" means "the first day".  It has a history of more than four thousand years.  There is a saying in China that everything takes on a fresh and new look at the very beginning of the year.

元，谓“首”；旦，谓“日”；“元旦”意即“首日”，一年伊始，万象更新。“元旦”一词的含义已经沿用4000多年。

Spring Festival is one of four Chinese traditional festivals along with Tomb Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival and Moon Festival which will be introduced below.  It's also the most important one of the whole year, just like Christmas in the West.  Through the evolvement of thousands of years, a series of customs are spreading far and wide.  Sweeping the dust, pasting spring couplets, pasting paper-cuts and "Up-sided Fu”, staying up late on New Year's Eve, setting off firecrackers, New Year‘s visit and lucky money and so on.

春节与清明节、端午节、中秋节并称为中国四大传统节日，它和西方的圣诞节一样是一年中最重要的节日。经过数千年的演化，许多传统的春节习俗传承至今：扫尘、贴春联、贴窗花、贴福字、除夕守岁、放爆竹、拜新年、给压岁包……

Tomb-Sweeping Day is a time to remember the dead and the dearly departed. More important, it is a period to honour and to pay respect to one's deceased ancestors and family members. Because it reinforces the ethic of filial piety, Qing Ming is a major Chinese festival.

清明节是悼念亡者和死去亲人的日子，更重要的是，它表达了人们对祖先和已逝亲人的敬意与怀念，强化了对于孝的观念。基于此意义，清明节是非常重要的传统节日。

The Dragon Boat Festival, also called the Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar. For thousands of years, the festival has been marked by hanging branches of moxa and calamus, wearing perfume pouches, eating zong zi, having realgar wine and racing dragon boats.

每年农历五月初五为端午节，悬艾叶、佩香包、吃粽子、饮雄黄、竞龙舟的传统习俗已经延续了千年。

People's Republic of China was established in October 1, 1949.  The National Day is celebrated every year on October 1 for the establishment of People's Republic of China. 

1949年10月1日新中国成立，于是每年的10月1日全国人民都要庆国庆。

The Midautumn Festival is the traditional festival in China. In this day, people ,espically family members will have a happy get-together. So Chinese people vaule this festival for its important meaning of "reunion".  And the mooncake is the symbolic food representing the "reunion" just like the full moon.

中秋节作为中国又一大传统节日，寓意阖家团圆，月饼是其代表性食物就像满月一样象征团团圆圆。
