The worst sandstorm to hit China's capital in on Thursday was swept away by winds that proved fatal on Friday morning, sending walls and trees toppling onto major Beijing roads.
The sandstorms and strong winds in Beijing have caused much destruction and injured several people in the capital as the extreme weather condition continued to affect parts of China on Friday.
On our social media weibo and wechat, complaints about pollution readings that had gone off the official scales during the storm gave way to the mass sharing of videos of the wild wind scenes, captured by people.

The CCTV reported a pedestrian in Haidian district was undergoing an operation for critical head injuries after being hit by heavy debris thrown into the air by strong wind on Friday morning. The wind uprooted several trees, which crushed vehicles as they fell, causing severe traffic jams in downtown areas. A Beijing cabbie also suffered head injuries after a falling tree smashed into his windshield.
The videos below showed what’s happening during the sandstrom and strong winds.
