Once the tallest building in Changzhou went down in eight seconds on April 25 to make way for a planned rail line.
Videos showed the scenes and reaction of people when the 34-year-old Zhonglian building was blown up by a demolition crew that day. Massive clouds of dust are shown spreading from the demolition site into nearby streets.
Zhonglian Building was built in 1986 and was located in the most central position of Changzhou City. It was the first comprehensive shopping mall in Changzhou with many shopping centers, restaurants, entertainment and other facilities. As the most luxurious building in the 1980s in Changzhou, it carried lots of memories of people and was the best witness of the fast development of Changzhou city.

It is reported that a new landmark 200-meter high building will be built in this site with a total area of 250 thousand square meters, 4 floors underground. Wenhuagong (文化宫) Station of Changzhou Metro will be at this place.
今年，常州购物中心将在原地重新建设地标性建筑，总面积25万平方米，地下4层， 地上200米高，其中地下商场将与地铁1号线、2号线衔接。
