With a mixed feeling of hope, excitement and anxiety, over 9 million students across the country and 16 thousand students in Changzhou sit the national college entrance exams, or gaokao today. What makes this year's exams even more memorable is that it is the 40th anniversary since they were resumed after the end of the "cultural revolution" (1966-76). Since 1977 when China’s national college entrance exams, or gaokao(高考), resumed, it has become the most crucial test for parents and children.
The notoriously tough national higher education entrance examination, or gaokao for short, is a milestone for young Chinese people. Finally, here we share some of the interesting facts about one of the world’s toughest tests.

June 7th, it can't be more ordinary. However, it would be the most unforgettable day for over 9 million students across the country because of gaokao(高考). In China, it is often said that taking ten years to sharpen a sword and waiting it to shine in one day. Now it's the time!

Traffic police are directing the traffic.

Parents are waiting outside the school.
I once was a participant among the million students 6 years ago but i didn't find that parents are more anxious outside the school until i looked back. Or maybe i was too nervous to feel it at that time. We were told that we had few chances to fight for dreams in our whole life so when would be the best time to fight if you did not try best at this time. It still encourages me now no matter in my job or life.

We took photo with our math teacher when we finished the last examination on 9th June,2011.
Looking back on the stages of preparations for gaokao, what impressed me most is not the anxiety and the tough times. Instead, i can still feel the happiness when i walked out of the classroom after the last examination.
