Hi, guys! Do you ever get confused? Your Chinese friend recommends a food to you but you think it is terrible. On the other hand, you have tried a new Chinese food and really like it, but what it is? Today let’s talk about some Chinese food you like or hate.

1. 饺子(jiǎo zi): Chinese dumpling

Jiao zi consist of a ground meat and/or vegetable filling wrapped into a thinly rolled piece of dough. Jiao zi are usually eaten with a soy-vinegar dipping sauce(and/or hot chili sauce).


2. 宫保鸡丁(gōng bǎo jī dīng:Kung Pao Chicken.

Kung Pao chicken is a spicy stir-fry dish made with chicken, cucumber,peanuts, vegetables, and chili peppers. It's aclassic Chinese dish.


3. 糖醋排骨(táng cù pái gǔ):Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs

Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs are a popular dish in Shanghai cuisine, made using pork ribs that are lightly coated in corn starch and seasoned before being fried and served in a sweet and sour sauce.


4.麻婆豆腐(má pó dòu fu: Mapo Tofu

MapoTofu is a popular dish from Sichuan province. It consists of tofu set in as picy chili and bean-based sauce, typically a thin, oily and bright red suspension, and often cooked with minced meat, usually pork or beef.


5. 火锅(huǒ guō): Hotpot

 A metal dish or pan mounted above a heating device and used to cook food or keep it warm at the table. People gather around a small pot boiled with charcoal, electric or gas filled with flavorful and nutritious soup base. Then you can add any food you like inside the pot and eat with sauce.


6. 鱼香肉丝(yú xiāng ròu sī):Fish flavored Pork Slices

Fish Flavored Pork Slices has a rich fresh and fragrant fish-flavor but there is no contain fish or fish sauce. The secret taste is from the mix of chili sauce, shallot, ginger, garlic, white sugar and salt.


7. 北京烤鸭(běi jīng kǎo yā):Beijing Roast Duck

Beijing Roast Duck is a famous duck dish from Beijing. The meat is prized for its thin,crisp skin, with authentic versions of the dish serving mostly the skin and little meat, sliced in front of the diners by the cook.


8. 包子(bāo zi: Steamed stuffed bun

It is of small size,with a thin warp and is filled with grounded meat.The steamed bun is characterized by delicacy and savoury smell. It's especially appetizing for it's white color and round shape, being freshly cooked from a bamboo steamer.


Hate

1. 皮蛋(pí dàn:Preserved Egg

This kind of eggs will be preserved for several weeks to months before you eat them.And they smell and taste a bit stinky. So it is a bad egg for most foreigners.


2. 猪蹄(zhū jiǎo:Pig’s knuckle

Although animal feet are not favored by foreigners, they are very popular among Chinese people, especially pig feet. Chinese girls really like it. Because those feet contain "collagen", which they think, will make their skin smooth.


3. 臭豆腐(chòu dòu fu:Stinky Tofu

Before tasting it, I think the smell already scares all foreigners away. But Chinese people do really like it, we always say "Stinky tofu smells bad, but tastes good." Maybe you could try!


4. 虫子(chóng zi: Bugs

It is not a joke. Though I never try it, bugs really exist in the menu in some cities. The bugs that they sell include scorpion, cicada, cricket, cocoon, centipede and so on. They are very crisp.


5. 鸭肠(yā cháng:Duck intestine


Chinese people eat almost every organ of duck, especially Duck intestine. But most foreigners do not eat the organs of animals.


6. 鸡爪(jī zhuǎ):Chicken feet

“We never eat animal feet!” “Really? Chicken feet is my favourite food.” This is the difference between Chinese and foreigners. Just like the old saying "Aperson's food could be another person's poison".


7. 青蛙(qīng wā):Frog

Many foreigners wouldn't lay their chopsticks on frogs. Nowadays Chinese people also eat less than before.


8. 毛鸡蛋(máo jī dàn:Baby Egg

Baby egg is popular in Nanjing. They look exactly the same like normal eggs. The only difference is that there's a baby chicken inside. It sounds a little strange, but it is said that it has high nutritive value.
