Muslims all over the world will be marking the blessed month of Ramadan. Ramadan is integral to the Islamic faith and sees Muslims all over the world commemorate the occasion through reflection, contemplation, and celebration.

What Happens After Ramadan?
The end of the Ramadan fast is celebrated as Eid al-Fitr, the “Feast of Fast-Breaking,” which is one of the two major religious holidays of the Muslim calendar (the other, Eid al-Adha, marks the end of the hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca that all Muslims are expected to perform at least once in their lives if they are financially and physically able). In some communities, Eid al-Fitr is elaborate: children wear new clothes, women dress up and special pastries are baked. In other communities, children are given money and gifts are exchanged between families and friends. Some Muslims visit the graves of deceased relatives to offer prayers. Eid is intended to be a fun day, full of celebrations when Muslims gather for meals and prayers, thanking God for another year of blessings.
