“International Driving Permit”,
not in China!
Many people mistakenly believe that you can drive all around the world with the “International Driving Permit” or the license of your own state.
Actually, that`s not true!
“International Driving Permit” is just a multilingual translated proof, which proves that the holder`s having a vaild driving license of his/her own state, according to the “United Nations Convention on Road Traffic ”.
However, China is not a member country of convention, so holding the “IDP”is equal to holding no driving license in China!
Holding foreign driving license ,it`s not complicated to apply for a Chinese one, the procedure is:
1.Take digital photo with Identity certificate
2.Have long term China Visa
3.Body check-up with Identity certificate
4.Original foreign Driving License (Exclusive International Driving license)
5.Take part in the examination 1 on time (support different langagues)
6.Get the certificate after processing the payment.
1、Structural heart disease, epilepsy, Meniere's disease, vertigo, hysteria, paralysis agitans, psychosis, dementia and physical activity affect the nervous system diseases, whichever affects safe driving;
2、Drug-user, or depending on long-term use of psychotropic drugs addiction before quitting;
3、Suspension of driving license for less than two years;
4、Losing license after escaping from traffic accident;
5、Driving License has been revoked less than 3 years;
6、Other conditions not accepted according to Law, Regulation, or etc.
According to relevant law, driving with foreign license in China is equal to Non-license driving. The penalty will be 200 to 2000 RMB, and you may even face detention of 15 days.
In any case, the consequence would be a bad record for the foreigner, when he/she apply for the China Visa , unexpected infulences may come up!
So, don`t any risk to drive without Chinese Driving License , catch your time to apply for it and drive safely!
