Brazil's government is facing a political problem recently. This May, Dilma Rousseff , the president of Brazil, was impeached, being accused of corruption for 180 days. Though leaders of many countries were confirmed to attend the Rio 2016 Olympics, the president of Brazil himself may be absent.
During the Rio 2016 Olympics, there is predicted to serve about 500 thousand tourists, however, Brazil Government could not recruit enough security Guards because of serious financial crisis. Only 500 security guards were recruited though the planned quotas was 3,000. It's said that the rest 2,500 quotas would be filled by soldiers or ex-service polices.
What's worse, the policemen's salary also came across with problem because of the Security Budget' shortage, some policemen even lined up a banner in the airport, which was written:"Welcome TO THE HELL".
Since athletes, journalists, tourists start to come to Rio, robberies and pilferages break out as well, a male Judo athlete from New Zealand even suffered from a menace by faked policemen.
Tough there are only 3 days or less before the Opening Ceremony, several key stadiums is still not completed yet. So it may be a challenge for those stadiums to catch up the matches, not to mention the security tests.
In addition, the Special Metro Line for Olympics, which was supposed to be completed last December, was just opened to traffic this August 1st!
What's more, the Olympics Villages also come across with a lot of problems, the workers are still busying repair the leaking rooftop and the blocked tubes. Delegations of some countries had started to fix the problems themselves these days.
The problems are exist objectively, and we mean no offences at all.
To think in rational terms, the every four years Olympic Games is not only the extension of Olympic Spirits, but also an opportunity for the host country to introduce itself.
But since the Olympic Games is becoming more and more luxury in the recent years , the audiences also start to require more and more. As a result, the host country of the Olympic Games has to pay the price, for example, the Beijing 2008 Olympics spent 42 billion USD to prepare the Games, but the stadiums which were built specially are turned to be kind of ruins now.
Take Brazil's declining financial circumstance into considerations, the government have to cut down the financial budget of other affairs in order to make sure the opening of Olympic Games. To some extent, it may be a kind of burden indeed.
After all, the original intention of the Olympic Games is to spread the spirit of Friendship,Unity and Peace by sport activities.
Finally, it′s important to note that , the first Team of Refugees in the history will join the Rio Olympic Games. There are 10 members in the team, including 5 Track and Field Athletes from South Sudan, 2 Swimming Athletes from Syria, 2 Judo Athletes from Democratic Republic of the Congo, 1 Marathon Athlete from Ethiopia.
They are all refugees who had to escape from their homelands because of wars and chaos, then they gain the chances of Olympics after being accepted by the other friendly countries in the world. When they walk in the stadium, the flag of Olympic Rings and the Olympic anthem will be with them.
We sincerely wish that the Rio 2016 Olympic Games could defeat the problems, and make the beautiful flowers of Olympic Spirits bloom in the soil of Brazil.
